"Then in the amateur sports, forget the flag ceremonies and just hand out the medals and the money making opportunities that go with them."

I agree Stefanya. just what I was saying.

I don't think that they should have flag ceremonies as long as the IOC is allowing such internationalism.

I think internationalism would be discouraged if the countries engaging in grabbing coaches and skaters from other countries to skate for them and coach them, if the rules said that you had to fly a flag for each member of the skating team and their coach and their country, if both skaters are imported.

For example: If the Bilgarian Ice dance team wins, then they should fly a flag for the following: A Bulgarian flag for the female team member, a Russian flag for the male team member, A Russian flag for the coach, and maybe yet one more flag for their long-time Moscow Russian coach.

The German team won in the pairs at the Europeans:
They should fly a German flag for the German coach and a Ukrainian flag for the female team member and a German? Hungarian? Polish? Solkowy, the male team member certainly doesn't sound German. So is he another import,or is he a natuaral born citizen or a citizen who has lived long-time in Germany,????? WHatever he is the appropriate flag should be flown for him.

Like wise if that rare Japanese/Russian team wins in the future for Russia then they should display a Japanese flag for the female skater, a Russian one for the Russian skater and a Russian one for the Russian coach.

A far better solution would be that the IOC refuse such internationalism so discourage countries grabbing coaches and skaters from other countries just so they could win.

They would have to win with citizens born in that country or with new citizens who are long-time residents and citizens in the country, like 10 years or maybe have entered the country under the age of 5 or 7 for example.

I sincerely doubt that countries will be thrilled to support skaters who are not skating under a flag, or for multiple flags. Can you imagine how happy people would be to see two or three Russian flags flying along with their so-called American winner. Or how about the Germans or french or whoever.
Internationalism does not belong in amateur sports, especially when they lead to the Olympics the most national of all competitions.

Amateur sports with athletes and coaches representing their coutnry should be from that country.

This is my opinion. I'm sure some people will be livid that I spoke my mind and will disagree, and that's fine, as long as they are not calling me names and making vicious personal attacks. I don't expect everyone to agree with me.

Internationalism in professional sports is another story, but I personally do not like to watch professional sports which have a lot of foreign team members on it. Professional sports are played for money, so I guess get the money where you can. But that is just my opinion.

I don't see the Sochi forum in the list of forums so I cannot answer the questions you asked me until I do find that forum.

I guess we do agree at least on the fact that if there is so much internationalism that flags should not be flown for whoever wins. But I think a better solution would be to ban such internationalism in amateur sports and especially at the olympics.

Yet, Ice Skating organizations take away male skater's freedom of narrow legged pants and or tights.Women always gain fashion freedom, while men always lose the little fashion freedom that they have; double standard !

Accenting of attention on genitals of man or of woman in movie is pornography but in most of types of sport mass media and clothes of sportsmen does it. For example: clothes of sportsmen in bobsled, skating sports, cycling, tennis and others.

Sasha is a far far better skater than Michelle Kwan could even dream of being...Sasha at her worst is still better than Kwybaby Kwan's best...Sasha was humbled by the Silver in Torino...humbled...not arrogant, expectant, bla-zay just a pure class act all the way. If ANYONE should return medals to their rightful owners/winners it's that perrenial Olympic wannabe Michelle *I have a groin owie but ia want the Gold that it is not about and never crossed my mind after I petitioned and screwed Emily over but it's not about the gold*****Kwan! That includes Sasha's bronze from SLC!
