Slovenia is blocking a fellow neighboring Catholic Country, Croatia, to obtain more economic prosperity by joining the European Union.
Slovenia can settle her border dispute with Croatia after Croatia enters the EU. The Vatican needs to intervene on the right for Croatia to join the EU and then later on the border dispute. Slovenia blocking Croatia from entering the EU is creating much hostility and disappointment of Croatians concerning their Slovenian neighbors of the same faith, and it is not Christian to keep a country of the same faith from not acheiving economic prosperity.

Switzerland is a glaring example as to the usefulness of the EU.

So Croatia needs EU membership because???

Most Croatians would say E who?

Without the need to adopt stringent EU border control measures adopting national border surveillance systems, illegal immigrants would be able to pass through Croatia and enter Europe (Slo) to feed off the EU welfare system.

Evo vam EU.

OK first of all I must tell that I am from slovenia and I will try to clarify our actions.
It`s clearly that you have no idea what is all abuot here. It would be very good for our economy that not only croatia but also other balkan countries to join the EU becouse we are exporting a lot of our products in that countries. So from economical wiew we are very positive that croatia joins EU. But croatia had turned over in their membership negotiations some documents which prejudge the border betwen our two countries. In the past croatia had made a lot of on side actions about border which were not arrange with slovenia. And those documents were simply to much and we had to say no to croatia before is to late. That most important piece of land for us is Gulf of Piran which would give slovenia un open way to internationals sea and croatia wants it so that they could forbiden our ships from entering the international waters.
Croatia was playing with us for a long time. We simply said "You are not going to "fuck" with us anymore".

It´s really sad that the Slovenians or the "Alp serbs" are being such noneuropeans. No other country has embarresed themselves the way the slovenes are diong right now, blocking the Croatian EU membership. Noone in Europe can se what´s productive in this embarresing slovenian action. We all think of the slovenians as a four year old kid screaming and crying to get what he wants. I don´t even thing that the slovenins big brothers, the serbs, are as stupid....an by the way, please dontt come to croatia anymore...go somew´here else and bring the bosnian muslims with you!

From your point of wiew I can clearly see that you are just another croatian nationalist. What do you say about Netherland, Great Britain and Belgium which may also block your membership negotiations for EU. Are they also serbs which may embarrese their selves?

The Vatican would work out a compromise allowing for Slovenian naviagation to go unhindered in the Gulf of Piran and the Croatians could keep their towns in the North. But the Vatican should intervene so this dispute ends and Croatia can enter the EU.

Since the Vatican is unwilling to intervene. The Croatians should work with the Slovenes and EU mediators so they can get in both the EU and NATO. The problem is Croatia's leaders don't seem to be guarding Croatia's national interests, but only their own. Croatia should compromise with Slovenia over the borders especially the Sea so Slovenia has free access to the Sea. I hope Croatians start pressuring Sanader to this viewpoint immediately.
