Shouldn't you disclose that Bank of America owns majority stock in the company -- Media News Group-- that owns the Time-Standard??

Thadeus also forgot to mention that locally Arkley is known for his political activities, funding right-wing candidates and buying influence in attempt to shape Eureka and Humboldt County into a Republican Utopia. Right now he's trying to buy the County's development services department so he can convert Humboldt County's rural lands - the heart of the county's beauty - into subdivided estates so he can build McMansions for the rich.

Take him to court, convict, and take it all away! Give it to the community.

Enough of the fat cats living off the sweat of the workers who barely make enough to eat and live yet who can never save enough to improve their lives due to the greed of the bourgeois, we need to stand up to this oppression now.

Is Arkley employing you in an unknown sweatshop? Are you his house boy? What? How exactly is Arkley oppressing you? Please tell us on a personal level. Or are you just spouting off because of haves VS have nots?

Fact is the intelligent business minded leadership keeps this country going. Socialism, communism, and liberalism, are leaches on the economy. These philosophies produce nothing.

"February 2007 -- More firms go bankrupt and the wider subprime industry begins to crash."

Gee, weren't the Democrats elected into full control of the House of Representatives and the US Senate in January 2007?

And they did nothing. And then this gem:

"February 2009 -- President Barack Obama signs American Recovery and Investment Act, including spending measures and tax cuts. Throughout 2009, the U.S. Treasury pours hundreds of millions into buying preferred stocks from major banks."

It 25 months for the Federal Government to act: Just throw money.

A year later? 12.6 unemployment in California alone.

Yep liberals. It's all Arkley's fault.

If Security National goes under thate goes anothr 400 private sectore, tax-contributing jobs, careers, familys, classrooms being filled, retail businesses being tendered -

Gone.

All gone.

So if you have class envy and wish the worst for Arkley, it will return to you ten-fold.

Excuse me, Reader, but the Dems took control in January 2009, not 2007. They inherited the biggest mess in the history of the country and are slowly, but surely, fixing it. Any other brilliant observations?

You like communism so much go to Cuba, No. Korea and have a great time.
You need to stand up to what oppression, the welfare office won't increase your free money. The money tax payers incl the wealthy pay so you can sit on your butt.

The Dems took control of the house is 2007. And...this administration has tripled the dept. It's time for this administration to claim their own....Geez......Obama took credit for the win in Iraq (not his victory)....but can't take responsibility for the dept he's created. I'm sick of this.

I think you need to recheck your facts Mr in the know. The Democrats took control of the House of Representative in 2007. This is what is commonly referred too as Democratic Majority in Congress. I guess you don't know everything. It's ok though there is plenty of time to figure out how the government works. Maybe next time we can discuss how a bill becomes a law.

Arlkley has done great things for this community. B of A hasn't. Just look at B of A's role in the bank fiasco. Talk about bad corporations!

Really Arcata.... isn't he already doing that? Maybe you should try and go out on your own, start a business, employ people in our county - contribute instead of griping!!

”It's not a particularly interesting story,” Forster said.“It's been happening all over the country to mortgage companies. It's him and everyone else.”

So - if it isn't an interesting story, why is the Times-Standard so hard up to publish it front and center? Pathetic reporting - just another attempt from a liberal newspaper to slam someone who tries to help our community.

Actually i think this is a well-written piece. But, like most of the pieces written about the mortgage crisis, it doesn't take one look at the people who lost their homes in this mess. Behind the failure of this company there are more than likely dozens if not more homes in foreclosure or that have been foreclosed on.These companies bet against the homeowners to fail. What they didn't bet on is that they might get caught... or fail themselves. I feel for the 400 who might lose jobs. That might mean even more homes lost. And so the American Dream goes down the tube even further. How sad.

"Security National also has a balance of more than $10,000 due to the city of Eureka for the Marina Center environmental impact report that was certified in October"
Nice use of "more than"-- isn't the actual figure in the neighborhood of $160,000?

Yes, business keeps the country going. Perhaps you might grow up and realize many liberals ALSO build and own these businesses!
Another Fox parrot, who thinks communism and socialism can be equated with liberalism.
Didnt go to school?
Too much Glenn Beck?
Please, read a book before you make such silly comparisons. It makes all 'conservatives' look stupid.
Lets face it, if Rob had called himself a liberal, you would be screaming for him to be thrown in prison right now.

If you hold up the pots of B of A and Arkley I wonder which one is more black? And how will this affect Virginia Bass's run for Supervisor? Will she be showing less money and more body? And will Bonnie Neely claim she was the one who brought B of A into the county? And will the Times Standard's crack investigating reporters discover Jeff Leonard has his entire $500 of campaign funds in B of A? And will Gallegos claim the B of A have been on his to do list since he was elected and that he wants to be reelected to finish the job? Sorry I dozed off for a minute..........
