Bay Area Resident and ABC's WifeSwap Participant Stephen Fowler

I watched the January 30 episode of Wifeswap, and I was appalled by the behavior displayed by Bay area resident Stephen Fowler. His utter disdain for the United States, the people living in America's heartland, and those serving in the military disturbed me a great deal. Specifically, Mr. Fowler is pretentious, boorish, ignorant, and sadistic.

Mr. Fowler is a British ex-pat. His LinkedIn profile indicates he was educated at Cambridge, is a partner in an environmental company called Terranova Bio, and is on the Board of Directors of Pacific Environment.

If I lived in SF, I would run this "man" out of town because he is a shameful excuse for a SF citizen, an environmentalist, a husband, a father, a man,and a human being.

This guy is a jerk; he's one of the biggest jerks I've seen on TV in 50 years. I agree with everything Norasusan says. I have to add to her post and say that I feel sorry for the kids. I can't imagine allowing my children to see an adult treat another adult in such a rude manner. Fowler, you are foul...truly foul

I am surprised his wife publcized her appearance on Wifeswap. I would have been mortified to see my husband act the way hers did, but I guess she already knows what a pompous ass he is. I feel sorry for them both but most of all their poor children. Fouler needs to use some of his money and buy some education in character. Oh wait, that is not something you can buy. You do learn from your experience growing up with loving and kind parents. Bless his children.

I doubt his wife knew the extent of the damage her idiotic husband would do to her practice and to the attitudes of her children. I'm sure she knew that his opinions are extreme, but she may not have known all the ignorant things he had said in front of cameras that would show his thoughts to the nation. And he has the nerve to say he's educated? Cambridge should have tought him that is not the way to sustain a career by blasting a country in general on national tv. Smart, he is not. I recommend everyone send letters/emails to the companies he's associated with - Pacificenvironment.org , ZooQ, and Terra Nova. Maybe we'll get lucky and his wife will smarten up and divorce the bastard, saving his kids from growing up with the same opinions, he'll lose his board positions and job, and be forced to head back to France with his ever so tiny penis between his legs.

ABC has removed many postings on their wife swap blog (including mine)and I did not post any of his personal information. ABC did not like my mention that Steven Fowler’s blind and hateful attitude and beliefs towards others who he feels are beneath him is what fuels genocide around the world. His lack of empathy and connection toward other human beings is pathological. I also mentioned that organizations (like ABC who remove postings) who censor opinions and halt and limit discussion of the attitudes and beliefs surrounding genocide are shameful. ABC as a powerful media outlet certainly does not advocate free speech unless it furthers their own selfish agenda….like exploiting the people who appear on their entertaining “reality shows.”

I feel like Stephen Fowler is an embarrassment to so many of us here in the SF Bay Area. The way he acted was highly improper. Seems his mighty education was highly lacking in etiquette courses. I am of the opinion that Steve's wifes business is going to go through a phase of clients not showing up for appointments and come monday alot of cancelations due to her husbands behavior. I remember reading about another European whacko who hated certain groups and pubically humilated them as he did his own government...This was in the '30's and he wound up killing 6 million beautiful souls. This kind of hatred cannot go unchecked.
The follwing is a draft of a letter I sent to every company and client associated with Pacific and other entities dealing with him:
I have never felt so badly for someone's spouse or even someone's employer or associates as I did for Stephen Fowler's wife and anyone or group that was unlucky enough to be associated with someone of his ilk.
I live 3,000 miles from San Francisco but have many friends there and they are ashamed and feel embarrassed for their city, They were just as appalled as my wife and children were with the horrid display of hatred and vile behavior Fowler exhibited on ABC's "Wife Swap" series.
There was another European fellow who was about Fowler's age when he decided to label and make "outcast" a group of people that he felt were "repulsive", "dumb" and "inferior." That was only 70 years ago and his rhetoric wound up costing 6,000,000 lives.
I just feel bad for you all who are in any way attached to this monster. Face it, about one half of the people in this country have an issue with their weight and even more than that have concerns and feelings of inadequacy regarding their appearance.
I hope your organization understands when the majority of the U.S. population, who is evidentily not as perfect as Mr. Fowler is, sees and hears the "hate speak" they witnessed him spew, they tend to take things like that very personally...Especially when they see a rather pleasant and kind person being dealt remarks like being called a "big fat, dumb, redneck" and being told "I probably earn more in a week than you do in a year."
I know it may be guilt by association but this dear lady was unfairly and brutally attacked by Fowler. Things like can leave permanent scars on some people. God forbid a person would do something to harm themselves after being publicly abused and humiliated about things they hold private and something they are self conscious, worried or are ashamed of. Seriously, if the woman's son was not overweight but had a horrible form of cancer, would this sad human (Fowler) still had hurt her the way he did (her son was close to being morbidly obese and that can be just as deadly as many forms of cancer?
Who would Fowler chose to attack next? African-Americans, Homosexuals, Moslems, Jew...If he did decide to take his vile hatred to another group of people who he feels are different than himself, it would be no different than him attacking the "heartland" and "obese" individuals he just brutalized.
May God have mercy on his soul. And I personally request that you and your organization cut all ties with Fowler if care anything at all about being considered a legitimate organization or care about your integrity.
From a possibility view point you may want your very first move must be to remove this man off of your board. With those types of views (as Fowler has) how could you ever trust any board decisions made were done so without discrimination...especially due to someone's disability, race, mental capacity or health issues like weight or other things that have nothing to do with their ability to be an honest, hard working, productive citizen.
Remember, that lady worked the third shift so she could spend time with her kids everyday.
