All vices should be decriminalized. We spend too much tax money paying cops to investigate hookers, johns, drug users, and bookies. If people want to destroy themselves, let them. There are others who are capable of engaging in the vices responsibly. We need to leave the outdated Puritan ethics behind. Decriminalize, regulate, taxate.

The only thing about decriminlizing all vices so people can destroy themselves if they want is that health care costs will go up because there will be more people in hospitals. Do you want to decriminlize suicide too? It's against the law.

It's about time somebody got some smarts. Working girls aren't criminals, they're applying world's oldest trade. If the measure passes, the cops can spend their time going after the real criminals; the ones who do harm to others through robbery, burglary, assault, kidnapping, rape, murder.

Of course I'd decriminalize suicide. Dead people can't be prosecuted.

And why would health care costs go up given that people are already doing drugs, selling their bodies and sleeping with hookers? When it's decriminalized and taxed, and our police and prison costs are reduced, government costs will go down while tax revenues go up. That revenue can be used for education and treatment.

All studies show that 90% of the women in prostitution want out. This ballot measure specifically takes funding away from a very successful program that helps women who are escaping prostitution. Sorry to say there are not enough women who want to give 10 blow jobs a day willingly...that's why pimps and traffickers exist. This ballot measure directs the SF cops to ignore pimps and traffickers and spend no money or time bothering them. Prostitution is about the least progressive thing there is -- if you consider the prostitutes to be actual human beings that is. This measure which was written by a pimp makes San Francisco look completely hearless and stupid.

Slavery, blackmail and extortion may be related to prostitution indirectly but they're separate issues and nobody is proposing legalizing those crimes. As for your "studies" showing 90% want out, cite source. Some women say they want out because they know that's the correct thing to say, but enjoy staying in because of the money and lifestyle. With decriminalization, willing women will be allowed to engage in their trade willingly without the need to hide from cops nor for pimps to bail them out of jail. They'll be allowed to do so in areas away from residences, under medical oversight, and in safer circumstances for themselves and johns. This has been proven to work in Las Vegas, Europe and Asia. Other crimes would continue to be prosecuted -- but with more manpower and funding since they're not being diverted to arrest low level pimps and hookers. Legalization is the compassionate thing to do.

Maybe we can match all the illegals i SF with AIDS-infested prostitutes. That way we can kill two birds with one stone.
