That's a beginning...Next, the principle of "Original Sin" can be debunked. As a matter of fact, the whole concept of Religion can be done away with. Blasphemy is a victimless crime!

As a non-practicing Roman Catholic, I think it is great that this man can continue as a priest in the "Old Catholic Church" while being a homosexual. I don't know anything about the Old Catholic Church, and I am sure other former Catholics don't either. Perhaps a follow-up article in the T-H that delineates the differences would be of interest to a number of readers. The Roman Catholic church has a laundry list of policies and doctrines that make it impossible for anyone with half a brain to follow.

Intellectually, to say that the Bible does condemn homosexuality but that it is wrong to do so, just as the Bible condones slavery (but was wrong to do so), plural wives (but was wrong to do so), and condemns divorce (but was wrong to do so), the ordination of women (but was wrong to do so), and working on the Sabbath under penalty of death (but was wrong to do so), and so on.

The idea that passages like Romans 1 and Leviticus 18 and 20 are somehow ambiguous in their condemnation of homosexual acts is ludicrous.

The idea that the Bible never seriously considers the possibility of a loving, faithful, monogamous homosexual (gay or lesbian) relationship is however correct, just as the Bible never seriously considers whether an abused spouse is permitted to exit an abusive marriage. The real issue is how we interpret the silence of Scripture on this and other topics.

It's a shame none of you have a clue of scriptures and their meanings. Gays always justify their reasons for being gay. Any church that condones such behavior is condemned already; just as gay people being dead already. Look at their lifestyles and their desire to be against nature. Even animals have better hearts than this. So how much more are we to an animal? Gays and Catholics both are destined to perish. And the day is near. Neither of their hearts are in the right place and both possess an evil spirit. Repent!

The bible is a blueprint of in-group morality, complete with instructions for genocide, enslavement of out-groups, and world domination, But the bible is not evil by virtue of its objective or even in its glorification of murder, cruelty and rape. Many ancient sources do that = The Iliad, the Icelandic Sagas, the tales of the ancient Syrians, and the inscriptions of the ancient Mayans, for example. Beut no one is selling the Iliad as a foundation for morality. The bible is sold and bought as a guide to how people should live their lives. Therein lies the problem. As for you "Just Like You", I see no difference between your way of thinking and the Taliban's.

None of us "have a clue of scriptures and their meanings"? Really??

So, was the universe really created 10,000 years ago as Genesis 1 teaches?

Does the sun really revolve around the earth, as the church fundamentalists of the time believed, even when Galileo proved that the fundamentalists were wrong?

Should we really NOT wear clothing made of 2 kinds of material, as Leviticus prohibits?

Has Jesus already returned, as promised in Matthew 10 (surely I tell you, there are some of you standing here who will not taste death until the Son of Man returns in his glory?"

Has Jesus already returned, as Paul promised in 1 Thessalonians 4?

Was mankind created first, as in Genesis 2, or last, as in Genesis 1?

We 'unscholarly types' who don't know anything about Scripture want to know the answer to such questions. We do know that the Bible is often wrong because it was written in a specific cultural period with all the biases of that culture. Acknowledging that the Bible could be, and has been proven to be, wrong on some cultural issues does entail a concession that it is not right about the death and resurrection of Jesus who is the one way to heaven.
LOL at all of you

Scripture: A jumble of oral tradition put down in some languages, badly translated many times by people with a bias. Death and Resurrection?, the Tooth fairy, the Ashtar story (Easter to the christian cult), Hell?, Heaven? Creation?... Wow, I thought we had left the Dark Ages...

Does this include the 1500+ documented species that have engaged in homosexuality?

I was unaware that animals who rip their prey to death had 'better hearts' than human homosexuals.

I'm not a Christian, but who cares? People should be glad that their community is coming together to do anything.

Vallejo community efforts gather just the few.
