Does Intra-species "Civility" Exist?

I'll get right to the point -- civilized men (and to a lesser degree, women) seen to, as a matter of course, exploit and as a result damage the lives of others to gain profit (look at current events in the USA).
I recently said in conversation with a psychologist that homo-sapiens is the only species that exploit one another in this way. But, you donít see as a matter as course animals of the same species do the same (no doubt there are exceptions)--only mankind.
She stated that animals within a species do damage to one another. That it is not unusual.
Can anyone add some insight to this discussion?
