Preserving a sheep's brain

My anatomy professor allowed me to keep the sheep brain I used for dissection. I want to put it in a jar for display purposes. I don't want to use ethanol or rubbing alcohol.
I have heard that glycerol will preserve a specimen very well, and since it is non-volatile, I won't have to periodically refill the jar.
Can anyone confirm this method?
