Will racism hinder Obama's re-election?

There are 1805 comments on the The Washington Post story from Feb 3, 2012, titled Will racism hinder Obama's re-election?. In it, The Washington Post reports that:

The role of race in that election, they argue, was similar to the impact religion had in the 1960 presidential race when many voters rejected John F. Kennedy simply because he was Catholic.

Racism will HELP Obama get re-elected. The more racist a group the more LEFT they are now., Any who have bought into being nothing more than a Hypenated American are sure to vote Obama. if racism was an issue obama would never have been elected president in the first place. remember 70 % of americans are white and 30 % are black, hispanic and every other ethnic group in between. even if every afro american, latino and every other non white had voted for obama you would still wind up with only 30 %, so let's give whites a little bit of credit will you. if anything it was the african american voter who voted strictly along racial lines and also don't forget that obama is also half white.

It was an issue. It's just, the people who raised it made the opposition look stupid. Nobody is denying Obama won by a landslide...but still there are a lot of people who chose either to vote for him because he's black, or to NOT vote for him because he's black.
I would argue that for that "lot of people" who didn't vote for him because he's (half)black, it was such an insignificant number of voters that its effect was like a fart in a hurricane.

This is the most likely form we'll see racism in; rabid right wingers projecting their own racism onto black people. These would-be Klansmen know they can't get away with open, overt racism anymore, so they play the race card more carefully.
Dirty is right - your post certainly was.

So you dont' believe that being Hypenated into a mere fraction of an America makes someone more likely to settle for anything with a D beside it's name on a Ballot? If you don't, You need to begin letting facts guide your conclusions.

Racists didn't vote for him the last time and it didn't have any effect, lol. They voted Republican and will again. We didn't need them then and won't need them now.

Americans have told them that we're moving ahead and you can stay if you continue to think like that.

Makes me proud to be an American!

Nothing will hinder his reelection. The only thing that could hinder it would be the economy, and that my friends gets better every day. BTW, every day the republican monkey show they call a primary goes on, it only helps him that much more.

Obama will win again. The only people dumb enough to think otherwise are either uninformed politically or just plain stupid.(or both)

Yep, if everyone would just let racists just go on acting like racist then it would not be an issue. I guess Liberals are making racism an issue by objecting to it.

Ah, that would be NO! The Republicans use it ever chance they get to inflame voters with a biased mindset, you know, like you. Any black that would be a Republican has some screws loose, no self or racial pride and is a flaming Uncle Tom!

We've been so insulted, demeaned and lied about from people in your party it isn't even funny. The only clueless people about saying or doing things to piss people off are Republicans, lol. You guys suffer from foot or hoof in the mouth disease and it's terminal!

LOL! This from a clueless partisan idiot who posts an abusive caricature of the President, who insults every single person he posts to, and who has never, not once, had anything remotely interesting to say on Topix?

It is to laugh, dude. Really funny stuff.:)

At the end of the day there are far more people who will vote for him purely because he's black than vote against him for the same reason.

He's an awful, divisive and quite frankly, clueless president who supports a terrible ideology but he'll win again.

Every time a black person can't get a job, or hold one, get elected, or not reelected it is racism. Well, guess what? The racism thing won't work this time. We voted for the Democrat to prove we weren't racist, and he is more racist then anyone. So, find something else to whine about. He's done. He's and old second rate Chicago politician. He is right now tied with Romney, and the campaign hasn't started yet. Wait until he has to defend his pitiful record.

No, you wait until Romney has to defend his apostate faith to all those Christian voters, lol. Racisim, you say, lol. He didn't notice his igger head lake? Blacks not allowed into their temple until the 80s? lol. I am just getting warmed up. For those of you so desperate to see Obama lose, will have some explaining to do about NOT being racist but would rather vote for a man made religion of dubious origins.

It's simple, race or religion? Got it? hahahaha

No, they're not! They're voting like they always did, party affliated! They're voting for Obama because they REJECT what the Republican party stands for and represents.

As far as horrible and divisive president, no president was worst than Bush and Obama was left to clean his and your parties MESS! You honestly think people want to give you all another chance? And worst still, he stole the election to MESS UP THE COUNTRY WITH HIS LIES! Republicans will vote for Romeny because he's white, not because he's Republican! How do I know? Because if he wasn't white, there would be no way in hell you all would vote for a Mormon, Italian or Jewish Person because that's what your party is all about, DIVISIVENESS!
