It won't peeve them off because calling the particle God means there is no personal God like they fear. The atheists probably made up the name as a form of mockery.

And yes, I am sure the religious groups will be the most mad in this. The Christians would believe it mocks their beliefs and the Muslims might be mad because it doesn't honor Allah. The polytheists will be upset because it doesn't either specify their gods nor name the entire pantheon. The satanists may be mad because it names the wrong god.

I think it's actually pretty fair to call it the "God particle" after all, if it really does exist He made it!
