The satellite tag attached to the fur of this southern elephant seal can collect data for a year before being shed along with the fur during an annual molt. Read more

Golly gee wiz..The water gets warmer and the ice melts...who would'a thought it?
And how much did this wonderful bit of research cost us taxpayers?

Yet, more evidence to support the man made global warming hoax! Idiots! Floating ice shelves such as this continually calve and break apart! It's completely normal and there is absolutely nothing man can do to slow or accelerate the process!
But hey! If you want to allow ignorant politicians to increase your cost of energy to facilitate the redistribution of wealth a la Obama Marxist Socialism and enrich the bank accounts of Al Gore and his cronnies selling air in the form of CO2 credits by all means, send them back to Washington!

as long as these global warming hoaxsters can earn a living with lies and distortions and our tax dollars we'll have to continue to put up with this crap...when does it end

Man caused global warming as been documented by hundreds of scientist reading the data without personal bias. The major global warming deniers are politicians paid for by big money corporations.

So is the media driven scare tactics owned by the wealthy set to make huge profits if the cattle do what they want them to do. The EPA firing, or black balling scientists in favor of a politically driven agenda. Did you know Big Al is invested heavily in green corporations? Some of us just want all the facts instead of mother earth driven religon from frothing at the mouth liberals.

Oh! You mean like in climategate? Yeah it's documented all right-no "personal bias" there! Get your head out of rectal defilade!

To all the oceanographers, marine biologists, climatologists and others involved in this study... and, really, to all the scientists who work tirelessly, usually in obscurity, to help us better understand the world around us: THANK YOU!

And for all the denialists, conspiracy theorists, and Al Gore-haters:

I know it's hard for you to imagine that it might actually be the DATA, over and over again, which confirms that (1) it's getting warmer,(2) the ice is melting, and (3) it's OUR own damm fault.

No... instead of looking at the evidence (from *thousands* of scientists around the world), it seems more plausible to you that this a massive conspiracy being perpetrated by Al Gore and his Massive Conglomerate of Transnational Green Mega-Corporations. They've taken over all the media outlets (except Fox) so that we won't hear the Real Truth from the plucky little oil companies (who'd like to make an honest living, sure.. but mostly just care about informing the people).

By the way, do you realize that Al Gore hasn't held political office in a DECADE?

Carbon foot print? Still too big. Try aiming for a carbon toe print instead. Your Mother will thank you.

He acts like he's still in office! And(1) it's getting colder,(2) the ice is refreezing, and (3) it's your own fault that you believe that B.S. Al Gorelioni is just a small part of the "conspiracy" as you put it.The IPCC and blah blah blah-I'm not going to enumerate the shill groups pontificating this BS-go ahead and believe it! But just remember when things really start getting colder instead of warmer(already has begun) how FOOLISH you were to swallow the kool-aid!

FYI, I did RTFA. I am a strong supported of real science. But when we fund studies that only confirm the obvious, I just wonder why. We've known for decades that the oceans are getting warmer. This does cause the ice caps to melt. Why are we contribiting to problem by running bunk studies that involve oil fired vessels?
I guess they just don't teach rational thought, nor deductive reasoning up at Party Time U.

Is global warming real. Maybe.. maybe not. But the reality is that the stigma of global warming is big business. Carbon trading will certainly change the face of the planet and it is too big to ignore the facts if you search for them. I know it seems very farfetched for one world order but it could possibly happen with taxing carbon.

As some point out the ultra rich or people in power really control the media and to a major extent the government. They decide exactly what information you read or hear and they only reward scientists with the correct view. Just look at how anyone who denies the main scientific body is ostracized.

Anyway I think the safest bet is to try and inform yourselves on both sides of the argument. Understand exactly what carbon trading is before sliding into bed with Al Gore.

Really? You think the 'hockey stick' graph was created just reading the data without personal bias?
Even the IPCC says there is a 95% chance that man *contributes* to GW. Not *causes*.

Take that junk off that poor elephant seals head you morons. What gives "scientists" the right to torture animals anyway? Maybe we should attach a camera to the marine biologists head and figure out what the heck makes them so cruel?
