A tornado touched down there and there was some damage but not like in Raleigh or Bertie County.

Wrong topic but typical troll response.

FOR ONCE, try to focus and stay on track.

Let's not forget the age of Mary when she was given to Joseph, or the age and number of Solomon's wives, etc. etc..........

She was old enough to be stoned to death for her 'sin'. It was after all the Law of Moses that she lived under and the death penalty was the sentence given to 'adulterous' women.

Exodus 22:16-18

Social Responsibility

16 “If a man seduces a virgin who is not pledged to be married and sleeps with her, he must pay the bride-price, and she shall be his wife.

17 If her father absolutely refuses to give her to him, he must still pay the bride-price for virgins.

Deuteronomy 22:15-17

Marriage Violations

13 If a man takes a wife and, after sleeping with her, dislikes her

14 and slanders her and gives her a bad name, saying,“I married this woman, but when I approached her, I did not find proof of her virginity,”

15 then the young woman’s father and mother shall bring to the town elders at the gate proof that she was a virgin.

16 Her father will say to the elders,“I gave my daughter in marriage to this man, but he dislikes her.

17 Now he has slandered her and said,‘I did not find your daughter to be a virgin.’ But here is the proof of my daughter’s virginity.” Then her parents shall display the cloth before the elders of the town,

18 and the elders shall take the man and punish him.

19 They shall fine him a hundred shekels of silver and give them to the young woman’s father, because this man has given an Israelite virgin a bad name. She shall continue to be his wife; he must not divorce her as long as he lives.

20 If, however, the charge is true and no proof of the young woman’s virginity can be found,

21 she shall be brought to the door of her father’s house and there the men of her town shall stone her to death. She has done an outrageous thing in Israel by being promiscuous while still in her father’s house. You must purge the evil from among you.

22 If a man is found sleeping with another man’s wife, both the man who slept with her and the woman must die. You must purge the evil from Israel.

Don't have much knowledge about arranged marriages?

I recently watched a documentary about Sharia and arranged marriages in certain cultures of Islam. Specifically, young Islamic girls recently taken in marriage in Ethiopia and the Sudan were interviewed. They were married at the age of seven.

These present-day girls were being legally forced into sexual relationship with their husbands, who were in their mid-twenties, before reaching puberty. The custom is thousands of years in tradition.

Similarly, in certain Hindu classes and cultural variances, the marriages are arranged before the children are born. Let's not be - or act - naive here.

Mr. DeCaro, you made a disparaging remark about the Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church, suggesting that she is a former Roman Catholic and is destined - consigned - to behavior indicative of the worst Roman Catholic behaviors.

Not only was the remark uncalled for, as Jefferts-Schori was only eight years old when her parents moved the family out of the RCC into TEC, but you make insulting insinuations about the RCC, your own personal choice of denomination with which to affiliate.

Since Schori WAS a former roman, that's like "suggesting" 2 + 2 = 4

In fact, Mr. DeCaro, a child of eight would not be likely to have been confirmed in the RCC. Although we do not have this particular bit of information about her, my guess is that she went through confirmation in The Episcopal Church. In any case, mox nix.

What is interesting here is why you feel compelled to denigrate the Roman Catholic Church of which you are a self-professed member. Is there something you regret about having joined the RCC?

I'm simply pointing out the hypocrisy of some anti-roman posters on this forum since the current PB of TEC and her parents were also "roman".

By no choice of her own, just as she was a member of TEC through her parents choice.

The decision to stay is made by adults.

What parish do you attend?

Nothing's as perfect as joline, he's a 'church' of one.

How ever will he pray since Jesus made it clear where TWO or more are gathered in My name.

But he still thinks the body of Christ is a wafer.......

I have no difficulty with exposing the silliness of the Church of Rome's dogma and leadership. Not all members of the Church of Rome are evil. My brother and his family are members of that church.

However, I am Episcopalian and a child of the Reformation.

I also love to mock you Joe. I know that I 'sin'. I was born a sinner just like you. God will forgive me. I am after all following the example of Christ Jesus. He certainly had no problem mocking the religious leadership and false practices of His people.

Here I stand I can do no other!

When did an 8 year old child become responsible for what her parents did or did not do? Was she required to disobey her parents? Was she able to form an adult decision?

Is this 2011CE or 2011BCE?
