That was what the former Des Moines Technical High School was all about back in the 60s and 70s almost the whole campus was different specialized core areas and now they want to take credit for something that was around 30-40 years ago - what a joke

@ SteveDSMIA, who really cares about who takes credit for what as long as our kids are given better opportunities to learn and succeed. If you ask me, a lot of what has been missing from our public schools is teaching technical skills. As long as they keep the fundamentals, I only see good things from this. I'm just glad enough people realized that it was necessary to put the plan into action.

30-40 years ago the school provided cigarettes to children, and teachers would smoke illegal marijuana with their students. This is just another liberal feeltard project that will result in the poisoning of our children's bodies and minds. God bless the USA and eliminate hippies.

My daughter goes to Central Academy in addition to Hoover. If it weren't for Central we'd be long gone out of this city. The opportunities that she has there are extensive.

I must admit, your trolling skills are quite impressive. You have to try out the site Fark.com , you could have a blast trolling that site.

You have my sympathy for having to send her to Hoover.

It is sad, isn't it? We wanted her to at least go to Roosevelt but she's already feeling the rivalry of it and adamently wanted to go to Hoover. We struggled with it quite a bit. Surprisingly, it's going pretty well so far.

Had to pull mine durring the initial Bosnian/ Afor-American turf wars bout 5-6 years ago. Put the others in Urbandale schools after Des Moines cancelled the TAG program to pay for ESL.

Luckily my daughter is in advanced classes at Central Academy. Science, Math and English. I'm more worried about my younger daughter though. She's doing really well but not off of the charts like her sister.
