The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission shows a giant eyeball from an unknown creature that washed ashore in Pompano Beach, Fla.

In March: "It doesn't make sense a giant squid and swordfish are similar in size, but the squid's eyes are proportionally much larger, three times the diameter and 27 times the volume," study researcher Sonke Johnsen, a biologist at Duke University, said in a statement. "The question is why. Why do giant squid need such large eyes?"
So he should know when he says "I'm fairly sure it’s just the eye of a large scombrid[ae], likely a swordfish or marlin." |

It's called Evil Eye.

Eric Warrant, a vision scientist at the University of Lund in Sweden who has worked extensively with swordfish eyes, said if the eye is not fake, it is almost certainly a swordfish.
