Anyone Identify This?

Sorry if this is the proverbial "stupid question" but while on vacation, and walking along the beach one night, my family and I found this on the beach in Florida (gulf side)
It was hard, not soft. My best guess, was some sort of coral?
Anyway, here is a picture:
Anyone know what this is? My family and I are curious...

Looks like a tunicate (pink) growing on a dead gorgonian (branchy structure).
