Oil spill disaster 'just got enormously worse'

Full story: TwinCities.com

If the growing oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico isn't contained soon - and the latest efforts suggest that's unlikely - then the damage to the fragile region will intensify over the coming summer months as changing currents and the potential for hurricanes complicate the containment and cleanup efforts.

Why when earthquakes hit, the ground shifts and heaves yet we don't have enviormental ctastrophes.

Why cant they install a two part flanged seal around the pipe leak. It is a six inch pipe they can pump mud down it why not a large balloon insert. Cut the pipe fit a roust about and run new flexible pipe to tankers.

Is this that competent government we were promised?

This is a far bigger disaster than Katrina, when all is said and done, and they still have done NOTHING. Not a thing.

This is an environmental 9-11 and they are just sitting on their hands, clueless.

Boycott BP (or anyone else) to your heart's contentment. I'm just saying that you will still be using some of what was once their crude, and will still put some $$$ into their pockets.
What I meant to say was is there no way to not buy their products?

What a stupid statement!
BP stations are individualy owned and operated.
They make little profit on fuel sales, making most on convienience items and car washes.
Okay. Don't buy fuel there; just convenience items and car washes.

What exactly should the government be doing to stop this leak?

Your idea sounds interesting, but challenging. Extreme pressure from rapidly escaping oil makes it very difficult, I'm sure. Not to mention the challenges of working that far below the surface, water pressure, currents, minimal friction, etc. But, hey, give BP a call and tell them your idea. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Good luck!

Right. If experts in the field have not been able to solve the problem, why should we expect politicians to surpass their efforts? Are they trained in this area?

Use the navy to nuke it. They should also be helping the states lay out the booms that are sitting in federal government storage.

The Russians have never nuked a deepwater oil well leak. The only underwater leak they nuked was only 200 feet below the surface. The others were conventional underground wells.

They developed special nuclear devices for this purpose (which we don't have) and had an 80% success rate.

There's no word on how many three-headed shrimp resulted from their underwater explosion.

This baby belongs to BHO!!!
His administration is 100% responsible for this leak.
So much so he fired a woman in charge of the industry.
Another example of Government FAILURE!!!
Furthermore BHO endorsed MORE drilling in the gulf of Mexico without adaquate failsafe protection from leaks.
All you "Green Idiots" that drive cars, Prius, and SUVs STOP DRIVING NOW!!

More from James Carville, who has REALLY become “fit to be tied” over the BP oil spill and the slow response by the President Barak Obama White House. As I had said this morning to my friend and local mid-morning talk radio show host, Jim Vicevich on “Sound Off Connecticut” on WTIC AM, as soon as his show has started. Even the from President Obama’s liberal base, from the old msm, they are now turning against him.

Has Barry returned BP’s campaign cash yet?

During the 2008 election cycle, individuals and political action committees associated with BP — a Center for Responsive Politics’“heavy hitter”— contributed half a million dollars to federal candidates. About 40 percent of these donations went to Democrats. The top recipient of BP-related donations during the 2008 cycle was President Barack Obama himself, who collected $71,000.

Contributions to Obama from all PACs amount to 0% of his total contributions according to your source.

The contributions you call "BP related" are from individual BP employees and are not corporate or PAC contributions.

Over the past decade, BP employees have given over $3 million. Fifty-seven percent of these contributions went to Republicans, while 43 percent went to Democrats.

What does this have to do with the oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico?

Why is Obmama not being impeached for allowing BP to be exempted from having to file a blowout emergency plan? This sounds more and more like a conspiracy to allow Obmama to pass Cap and Trade, for more communism.

Can anyone see the end of natural marine life? If we set up a 'Noah's Ark' aquarium, we can salvage some of the fish, but I can see this well gushing the reported 1 million gallons/day for the next 4 years, Obmamam will have ushered in martial law, we'll have a communist dictatorship, there will be no recovery from this oceanic tragedy.

Obmama let it happen.
