This earthquake was predicted! I cant believe it really happened! Lucky it wasnt as strong as he thought it was going to be. I hope people are ok there! It was not on the news here that I saw and have only just read about this. Really sorry to hear. Here is the link to all the other predictions just in case they come true as well

Got some interesting random info.

Next mega quake actually very easy to measure to within decade by calculating interval time since last one * convergence rate in centimetres per year & homing in on areas where there is a mountain range where the Young's modulus of the crust from ~10Km to ~150Km is calculable.

3 areas so far.

Hindu Kush (N.Pakistan/Afghan border) 1763.
That one is buffered by Himalayas, Pashtun range & Tajik borders ranges & is overcompressed with range & surrounds going up in the world, both basaltic plate remnants descending freely & compressing, & the locals going completely ga ga and acting like they are late arrivals to the end of the world party.

Pashtun range 2084+-10

Himalayan frontal thrust 2065+-10

One more of very great interest to the Philippines as follows...

Papua range subducting Caroline basalt plateau 2037+-10

Last there was 1 cordillera event 1446+-10 and previous was recorded mega quake in 460AD involving 2 cordilleras in the range which was felt as a catastrophic event in the mountains in SW.China after the range in SW.China Laos & Burma let go ESE. when the Indo-Australasian plate lurch crossed the Andaman basin.

BOTH the 460 and 1446+-10AD events also affected the sanghie, Halmahera & S.Philippines arcs before heading E. through Guam & Volcano & Izu arc along the E. side of the Philippine sea plate. for a 1 range event the runout is 60m with a tsunami to match @ N.Papua.

Next mega quake @ Papua likely to trigger Himalayas mega quake (see info @ start of post).

Sorry but cant get closer to the time until the date of the 1446+-10 orphan tsunami is pinned down pat at which point the convergence rate gets an extra decimal point.

The weakest point @ Papua is the Oster hagen range.
