Unfortuately, most gay men are not as fair and balanced as you. Most of them are unfair and unbalanced.

To even think a person CHOOSES who they are ATTRACTED to is insanity. You can't choose what your brain tells you is a turn on. You like what you like. Most people are bisexual to some degree. It's life, it's nature, it's normal, it's real. And instead of focusing on who someone has sex with, we should focus on that person and their character instead, because that is what truly matters.

You keep saying "most" and yet examples of people with a "fair and balanced" mindset keep popping up. Fair and balanced must mean to you exactly what it means to Fox News. Apparently, someone gay has to have a right-leaning mindset for you even consider them as having an opinion worthy of consideration, and I can't even go that far in because what opinions *I* have and Catholic Created Gay has, matter little to you because of the stereotypes you keep painting the gay community with.

BTW... what was that book again? I tried looking for it in Barnes and Nobel, but couldn't find it and didn't remember the name.

I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of posters in this forum who actually try to "listen" to all arguments with an open mind.

The name of the book is Androphilia, A Manifesto, subtitiled: Rejecting the gay identity reclaiming masculinity. Author, Jack Malebranche. I bought it on Amazon.

Reclaiming masculinity? Hahahahahahaha. Masculinity has nothing to do with sexuality. The title clearly shows insecurity and disordered views of self. You think your sexuality makes you less of a man and a person. How sad. How sick. How desperate for approval you are.

What are you even talking about? I didn't write the book. I mentioned it to Josh weeks ago and he said he might read it. And since you probably haven't read it you can only spout off on what you don't know. Typical.

I was saying simply that anyone who would read and take to heart a book with that title is definitely got an agenda. The writer of the book is an idiot, that much is clear.

True, the title has some issues. Masculinity or lack thereof isn't the cause of homosexuality, and not an issue I can say for sure I'm not facing. I'm a guy... like heavy metal, geeky tech things, working with my hands, being outdoors, and not to mention... beer.

mmmm beer....

Josh, trying to say masculinity or not having enough masculinity causes homosexuality is not at all what the writer is discussing in his book. The poster you replied to is just flying off and spouting his pre-prepared rhetoric probably without even taking the time to use google (like you did).

So the author presents an argument that homosexuality is linked to masculinity or rather a lack thereof? He better have credentials because that hypothesis is quite a bit outdated and thoroughly debunked by about forty years of research on the topic.

No he is not trying to say that. It has been a few months since I read the book so my memory of the details is fading (although I still have it right next to me in a drawer), he is NOT saying homosexuality is caused by a lack of masculinity. What he is saying is that effeminancy is too deeply engrained in the homosexual subculture. He doesn't feel ALL gay men are alike. He believes masculine gay men and effeminate gay men have distinct differences, and that masculine gay men ought to develop their own subculture instead of automatically assuming that we are all gay together.

He feels gay people try too hard to mimic straight people in an effort to gain validation through social acceptance.

He feels the gay political movement presumes that it speaks for all gay people, and that too many gay people swallow whatever the gay political movement without thinking about it.

He feels feminism has done great harm to society by making masculinity seem evil. I never thought about that one before.

Josh - just get the book already.
