Black carbon causes twice as much global warming than previously thought

This has been known about for a particularly long time.

The fall of the soviet Union led to a sudden drop in coal fired industry. Thre result was a very rapid drop inblack carbon output & resulted in a spectacularly cold winter which the precipitated the 1998-99 El Nin which sent Georg HW Bush & his misbegotten son totally gaga and caused the bulk shutdown of the independent climate science monitoring sector of the USA & UK.

The UK has still not recovered from tha catastrophic blacklist of any science graduate with ant credentials @all in atmospheric phisics and palaeoclimate.

Actually, the global cooling we saw in ~1991-93 was due to the eruption of Mt Pinatubo in June 1991.

The recent paper claims that the effect of black carbon overwhelms the effects of reflective aerosols in the atmosphere. It's a very nice hypothesis, but it doesn't line up with what's happened in the real world.

Between ~1945 & ~1975, we had very little warming, & at least some of it was due to reflective aerosols (e.g. hydrates of SO2) from pollution. However, this pollution also included lots of black carbon.

Environmental laws were passed beginning in 1970, & pollution was cleaned up, reducing both black carbon & reflective aerosols. Temperatures rose, & have been rising ever since.

So cleanup of black carbon & reflective aerosols caused warming in the past. If Chinese pollution is cleaned up, warming may accelerate again.

Of course the troll PHD has stated that ALL science is science fiction.

He is confused (deranged in his case), because what is true is that some science fiction eventually becomes science.

Is there an ignore button for trolls here?

Black carbon on snow and ice has a very strong warming affect. You're thinking of black carbon in the atmosphere where it mixes with aerosols.

Yes. It causes warming either way, though.

Did we see cooling after black carbon was reduced in the past? I think not but would love to hear otherwise.

And how do we lower its level? Traditionally we'd burn it, which would raise CO2.

Actually what is true is science becomes science fiction. Yes there is an ignorant button. I just pushed it and don't have the time to respond to the rest =of your useless babble. Now try hard and you will find the real (deranged in your case) commander trollette.
