Coal ash decision stymied in election year

In Maryland's Zekiah Swamp, one of the Chesapeake Bay 's most important tributaries, 8.4 million tons of coal ash in pits from former operations of the Morgantown power plant are leaking into groundwater.

Remember when Newt Gingrich labeled President Barack Obama the “food-stamp president” in January? Almost 15 percent of Americans -- a record high -- now rely on the government for their most basic necessity: food.

The number of Americans using food stamps rose to 46.7 million in June, reigniting the debate over the amount of food-stamp spending the government should provide. The total cost for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program in the fiscal year ending September 2011 was $75.7 billion, more than double the amount four years before.

That's not surprising. When the wealth is hoarded by the 1%, then the poor need something to survive.

Wealth is finite. If it is distributed upwards to the 1%, then the poor and middle class suffer. All you voting for Rich Money are shooting yourselves in the foot, unless you are already in the 1%. Still even those in the in lower 1% will have to drop out of the 1% in order for the rich to get richer.
