Battery Manufacture Carbon Emisions
It seems perverse to consider how the electricity used for charging a battery is generated, but not how the electricity used to manufacture it is generated.

Meaningless. The mix of energy sources will get cleaner and the issue is to progress on that as fast as possible.
Wringing hands and whining about the carbon emission to develop those clean energy sources is counter-productive if not purely stupid. They all return more carbon emission reductions than they consume in charging and manufacture. Especially as they are implemented on a large scale. Efficiency always goes up as large scale production becomes the norm.
