Can a tax stop global warming?
The Citizens Climate Lobby thinks so. This non-partisan, nonprofit group is pushing a proposal for a carbon tax as the best way to incentivize a reduction in the emissions of greenhouse gases.

Nothing can STOP Global Warming. We already have it and reducing the increase in GHGs won't make it go away. But we CAN reduce the rate of increase and limit the peak warming, with greater returns in avoiding climate changes and extreme weather.
And yes, a SURCHARGE (rebated to the public) on the price of fossil fuels can do it. It would be a TAX only if the government kept the money collected.
