Need advice for spreading lepidoptera

I recently began spreading insects. I purchase some dried specimens online, and I am comfortable spreading beetles as I typically put them in a hot water bath to relax their bodies. However, I cannot seem to get the butterflies and moths to relax properly for spreading. I read several pages on creating relaxing chambers, and I have waited several days. The butterflies and moths' wings are flexible. However, regardless of how much I attempt to lay them flat for spreading, the wings still spring back up and together. I read instructions on "breaking the wing muscles" and in all of the videos I've watched, the specimens seem to lay flat with ease after their wings are pushed down. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Thanks.
