y we can't use the transformers in dc supply..............

If u give dc supply to the transformer then the heat losses are caused due to the high magnitude of dc which results in burning of windings

its partially wrong the we can't use transformer on dc supply.If we connect a DC source on one side of the transformer then at the instant of switching on the supply the transformer will generate some output depending upon the magnitude of the supply voltage but the instant at which steady state attains the transformer core will saturate as there will not be any rate of change flux linkage.........
