^This.

Tigers only live in Asia, so it has to be an Asiatic Lion.

Asiatic Lions are much smaller than African Lions.

Although this thread dosn't belong here, I'll say this. Its commonly known for tigers to defeat lions in captive battles. Have give the advantage to the tiger but only slightly. Both animals have a good chance of killing each other.

Tigers, are bigger, faster, more agile, more powerfull, and basicly more advanced in every way.

But what about Siberian tiger vs african lion vs SMILODON POPULATOR!

Smilodon populator would break the necks of both the lion and tiger most likely.

Against siberian tiger and lion though, I would still say siberian tiger. Although some research has been done indicating the siberian tiger is smaller then once thought, its not conclusive enough. Varies populations in bengal tigers indicates a huge variation in body mass and dimensions, the same likely applies with siberian tigers. Some siberian tiger populations are known to have dwarfed all other tigers. The reasearch done on siberian tigers indicating 400 lbs should be taken carefully because siberian tiger sizes were actually smaller in weight and dimensions in that specific area. However, some locations indicate siberian tigers larger then bengals in dimensions (thus larger weight).

Conclusion is that siberian tiger may still be larger then the bengal, possibly by 32 kg.

No, actually a tiger I have read can bite with a maximum bite of about 1,000 pounds of force, with about 900 pounds of force as a high bite and about 500-600 pounds of force average. A lion can bite down with 800 pounds of force I think, well, 700 pounds of force, it is a 300 pound difference,so, a tiger would probably win.

1) Bigger, but only a little, like 1 foot difference.
2) The lion is much faster, they have longer forelimbs and the highest hip height of any cat, the lion can do 35 mph or more and the tiger is only about 25 mph (or more).
3) More powerful? Look at the video Mattking showed, lions have stronger paw swipe and could easily rip apart the tiger's face, while tigers do quick jabs.
4) Advanced? Lions have a little better senses, like sense of smell due to the longer nose.

It can, the tiger can't see the lion's neck through the mane, so it has to guess. The lion's neck is actually LOWER than it looks, so when the tiger bites, it just gets a mouth full of hair (XD) then, the lion has time to bite and kill the tiger.

Lions chose to use more powerful hits then tigers but in reality, a tiger is much stronger. Tigers prefer the strategy of lighting fast paw swipes rather then lions heavy blows. In reality, a tiger with this strategy could hit a lion 3 times in the face before a lion hits a tiger in the face once.

And with the massive strength of the tiger, this wil break a lions face in.

The lion neck is not lower than it looks, also, some mane are very short and thin so.

Tiger isn't THAT much stronger than a lion, if a lion gets just one, heavy paw swipe into the tigers' face, lion wins. Plus a lion uses BOTH paws sometimes, then he could pounce on the tiger and then lion wins again. I do think the tiger would win sometimes but I think 50/50.

Yes it is, but an average male lion has a huge, thick mane, it could be used as a good defense.
