Dats right
Shame on US XD, and especially shame on da random troll who vandalized wiki in orda 2 make people think carcharocles is 20 m and 100 t in AVERAGE!

It should also be noted dat when gottfried estimated carcharocles 2 be 16 m, da largest tooth givin a 17 m carcharocles was not known yet

The way wiki was worded made ME think that 20m was based on the largest known tooth. Of course, this is not the case.

Wait wait, UF 237956 looks about half the height of UF 237950, or is it widthat the base we are talking about?

Sorry, dis is da true pic i meant 2 link
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons...
Bdw, NOT ALL TEETH OF DA SAME CARCHAROCLES SPECIMEN R EQUALLY LARGE: some teeth r larga dan odas, since dere r 4 diffaent kinds of teeth. Sometimes have not even da same SHAPE, so a larga tooth is not just a scaled-up small tooth. Different kinds have different size and shape, so u can imagine dat da largest tooth of a determinate specimen can be mistaken 4 a smalla tooth of da SAME specimen, dats why HUGE size estimates 4 carcharocles had been very common
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carcharocles#Den...
Didnt u note shimada mentioned "A2" and "A1" teeth? Yes, dere r even SUBGROUPS of teeth

PS
AMAZIN NEWS!!!
Rememba i said LEVIATHAN is actually da junior synonym of Mammut aka mastodon? Well, da describas of dis awesome non-neophyseteroid physeteroid just RENAMED it LIVYATAN

NEOPHYSETEROIDEA (Phsyeteridae+Kogiidae) has been erected by ME XD

Dont worry :-)
Im sayin da largest carcharocles tooth belongs 2 a specimen estimated 2 be 17 m and 57 t. Da 20 m and 100 t carcharocles is just an HYPOTHETICAL MAXIMUM body size by gottfried (1996), but deres no actually a tooth belongin 2 such a large specimen
Gottfried just "increased" da maximum body size since maximum sizes r always considerably larga dan NORMAL size
4 example, im 1.82 m tall but dere r A LOT of 2 m guys or even talla. But dey r NOT average. Da 20 m estimate is like da 2.3 m estimate. Possible but NOT average and DEREFORE NOT REPRESENTED BY FOSSILS
SHIMADA is da SHARK PALAEONTOLOGIST who proposed vat i think is da most accurate method 4 obtainin length of sharks
And GOTTFRIED is da FISH PALAEONTOLOGIST who proposed a method dat is close 2 dat of shimada, but i think shimadas 1 is still betta. Bdw, gottfried himself proposed da most accurate method 4 obtainin MASSES of sharks
So shimada tells us carcharocles, while gottfried tells us carcharocles mass
Now i realize carcharocles is MUCH more plausible....
Hell, we thought it was ONE HUNDREND T ON AVERAGE! As u said, dat would make it virtually "UNSTOPPABLE"
Now dat carcharocles got scaled-down, its size and strenght is comparable 2 dat of oda large marine macropredators
OH ok I got it! So then basically the "average" sized Carcharocles may be around 16-17 meters, but the MAXIMUM SIZE (which is larger then most normal specimens) may have been 20 meters.... ok that makes sense thank you for putting up with my confusion!:)

even if "kelmayisaurus" was a carnivore, it would still be smaller than carch, livyatan, etc.
