it depends on which gorgonopsid it is because gorgonopsid is a suborder of therapsid synapsids

well, the Dimetrodon was the larger animal but gorgonops had speed and agilty on it's side (as well as a pair of 12 cm long teeth) so it depends upon which trait is more useful. but personally i think gorgonops would win

Dimetrodon evolved into Gorgonops so think it's really clear who wins here. Let's say that it's the type of envirment let's say it's desert Dimetrodon gets the sun's rays heating him up but it heats him too much. Gorgonops goes in for the kill. WINNER. Gorgonops.

Indeed, in reality Gorgonops was only about 2.5 meters, even the largest Gorgonopsid was only 3 meters long (Inostrancevia) not 5 meters like in BBC!

I would like to point out though that in walking with monsters they stated that the Gorgonopsid in "monsters" was Gorgonops but that wouldn't be possible because Gorgonops didn't live in permian russia it was Inostrancevia that did so they got both the size and the species wrong!

If you read the popular culture on Gorgonops I provided it explains why!

As for the fight I would say Gorgonops because of its superier speed advantage. If it was Inostrancevia then it would be no contest!

He's listening to WWM, the same thing that claims a 4-5M Gorgonops.

to me the gorgonopsid would win because the unlike the dimetrodon, it did not sprawl, and allowed it to move faster. also, all the gorgo had to do is get its massive sabers to hit dim's sail to break it and cut its blood supply. however, dimmy was bigger and might have had a bigger bite force.
