We've all watched the scene in Jurassic Park where the T.rex chases down and keeps pace with a jeep for a solid 30 seconds. But for such a large, heavy animal, is this realistic?

There have been arguments both for and against. Typically a fast running animal has a long tibia relative to it's femur. This characteristic is seen in most fast running animals, Ostriches being a perfect example. When looking at the leg bones of T.rex, some scientists (Jack Horner) have said that T.rex has a longer femur than tibia, suggesting it was a walker not a runner. Others however (Phil Currie) have said it has a tibia and femur that are about the same length, or the tibia is slightly longer than the femur. Which means it could run at a decent pace. Who is correct? How can both scientists measure presumably the same skeleton (Sue) and get different measurements? Is Jack Horners bias towards hating T.rex making him say T.rex was a walker?

This forum has been so clogged with shit recently i think it is in need of some on-topic threads. I am throwing the lot of you a bone. Discuss ;D

Not the point. Arguing on troll threads is one thing, but bringing arguments onto threads that are supposed to be on-topic is another.

Eg. Ostriches can run fast due to a long tibia and ankle and a relatively short femur. Also, Phil Currie seems a lot more reliable than that jack.

A humans femur (50cm average) is longer than a human tibia (43cm average), but we still have the ability to run. I think T.rex could run, but only about 20mph at max. Which is still fast enough to catch a human.

Yeah I trust Phil Currie a lot more than I do Jack Horner.

They say if you give a monkey a pen and paper, and the time span of infinity...
he would write a Shakespeare play.

If we gave 'Oase', a pencil and paper, it would only take him a minute...
to eat the paper and stick the pencil up his arrse!
