Alan Turing, computer pioneer, posthumously pardoned for gay sex conviction

Dec 24, 2013 Full story: Inside Bay Area 26

Britain has tried to make good by one of its most famous sons, posthumously pardoning Alan Turing for a gay sex conviction which tarnished the brilliant career of the code breaker credited with helping win the war against Nazi Germany and laying the foundation for the computer age.

That this man , who helped the Allies win the second world war , was subjected to this asinine abuse is a permanent blot on humanity - pardoned or not . Everybody's sorry after it's too late ; which proves how inferior an animal man still is .

The Allies won nothing, destroying themselves just so the Soviets could overrun half of Europe for the next 50 years.

Any less famous homosexual would not have been pardoned so this was a complete waste of the government's time.

Indeed, it has no meaning; but there is one good thing about it.

It's such a vehement castigation to the antigay. You'd almost think the civilised world in its entirety is conspiring at this point to rub the snouts of the antigay nonstop in this; pro-gay concerns are being treated like urgent matters and the concerns of the antigay are routinely being ignored or batted aside, which is all as it should be.

Other than that, though, there's really no meaning to this, I agree.

Xstain mullahs or muslim mullahs, I don't see the difference.

The only difference is that the industrialized democracies can keep their "religious" freeeks somewhat more in check than can places like Iran or Uganda.

Fortunately, muslims in the US have not matched our xstain talibangelicals in anti glbt bigotry yet, and with luck never will.

Murder remains murder, however it's done; but that will never be admitted to.

All that is required is an insurmountable barrier between church and state and it never CAN happen.

Forget luck.

The Nazis were no threat to the UK.

The Soviet Union was.

Oh, that's crazy even by trolling standards.

Alan Turing had no way of knowing what the outcome of World War 2 would be ; so neither he or the Allies can be blamed for the outcome which is , after all , a matter of opinion . His pardon is entirely a symbolic gesture ; but I want to point out that in the 1960's an English judge said " Looking back on the events of Oscar Wilde's trial and condamnation one must conclude IT SHOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED " . Turing's pardon is partial restitution for so many injustices done in the name of , that monster , middle class morality .

Turing was a mediocre scientist and certifiable mental case. His fruitiness is the only reason anybody ever remembers him. His life was a failure, but then being a fagtard what do you expect?

I'm not sure anyone thinks he was precisely a scientist, Cletus.

Just one of the two or three prime inventors of what became tube based and then transistor based computers, along with Neumann and also Shannon, arguably. But obviously you haven't the slightest idea what I'm talking about - you're too busy studying the latest tweets from George Takei.

I never said that, and I challenge you to quote the posts.

What I said, is that an alliance with France to protect Poland's territorial integrity was stupid, since it would inevitably bring us to war with Germany.

I have never said that we should have supported Germany against any country.
