"Dune" (1984) is a science-fiction adaptation of a Frank Herbert novel about two warring kingdoms on a waterless sand planet named Dune vying for control of a magical spice that enables space travel. Will justice and life prevail or will vanities lead to the evil kingdom obtaining the power to control the universe?
Human beings have made many mistakes: World War II (1939-1945), Chernobyl, Watergate, the Enron scandal, nuclear warfare, etc.
"Dune" (1984) reminds humanity that despite ethics confusions regarding imagination, self-improvement is sought with the clearest intentions.
Imagine that your father says you, "you owe me a great debt of friendship and money" which you feel you can not pay. You might become a drunkard feeling guilty for your poverty. Imagine then that your drinking pals engage in a quarrel and end up playing unethical deception mind-games with each other and then insult you and your mother. Imagine further that this frustrates you and your mother and strains your relationship with your mother, which in turn, strains your relationship with your wife and your town priest. Where does this leave you? You still feel guilty about poverty, but now you feel abandoned by your friends, mother, wife, and community. What if you turn to crime out of frustration and abandon your own wife? Where do you then find the motivation to repent and negotiate emotions of self-improvement with your father and community?
Hollywood (USA) movies (and movie posters!) such as David Lynch's "Dune" (1984) suggest that motion picture images that characterize ethics logic relieve psycho-sociological anxieties regarding coordinated self-visualization.
Are they printing movie posters on hemp/recycled paper yet?
