I think all schools should have this service. Once they get it working properly.

I respectfully disagree with the statements and it is almost as relevant as stating airplane travel is not safe. On the disclosure side I am CEO of Clickatell and we have successfully seen SMS emergency solutions deployed in many countries which have made a real positive impact on people’s lives.

3.35 Billion people can receive an SMS around the world, no other medium comes close to this type of range and reach, Debate Over.

The alert system works well at our school. When our school was closed due to the flu, parents were notified immediately. Our school uses a parent alert and notification service from http://www.orangepoint.net/schoolalerts.html which is quite reliable. Hopefully, reliability will trickle down in other schools and universities.

I tend to agree with the conclusion here that text messaging is not the silver bullet. SchoolAttention.com uses text messages, Instant Messaging(aol, MSN etc..), email, voice broadcasting (LAN line or cellular), facebook, myspace, twitter, micro blogs, and a ton of other social network sites.. One click using their application will send alerts through all these channels to an unlimited number of recipiants. http://www.Schoolattention.com
