Maybe, maybe not ...
1. will the technique scale up to deliver commercially viable levels of power?
2. Is the technique able to compete with the cost of current wind, hydro, nuclear, coal, oil and natural gas energy production?
3. Will established energy companies (in the 'free market' economies) use their financial and political power to kill the technology commercially?
Promises are easy to make and hard to keep.

There aren't many instances where entrenched companies were able to keep out better competitors. It isn't like there were no search engine companies before Google, the market was quite saturated. Ditto with mp3 players and Apple.
No technology starts off better. The first CD burner cost $5,000 yet no one said 'it can't compete today so we should not build it', that is what the free market is for.
These energy sources will not scale today, it is basic research
