Peace to everyone. I just found out i have this disorder. This has helped me a lot: Take a charcoal tablet every other day to bind up the fumes, take Nullo (copper chlorophyll) as an internal body deodorant every other day, and laxatives to speed up transit time of food in body. Probiotics helps by adding the good bacteria. It works for me and maybe can help others. Good luck and I'm praying that a cure is coming soon. I went to Henry ford hospital and the genetics department was aware of this disorder and
Sent urine samples to proper labs for testing. Covered by insurance too. Allah will help us! Ameen

You are not alone. I just read some post from another blog and thought that the very first one was about me. The person wrote exactly what has been happening to me for a few years now. When I am at work the body odor is all in the air. People have made comments for years and they will bring their friends to walk by and take a sniff and they to will laugh and make comments. My body odor smells more like sulphur. This is caused when your PH is off balanced(Your body is less alkaline and mre acidic. I have basically lived on the computer for the last few years researching the possible cause. My problem may have originated from using birth control pills for over seven years coupled with overuse of antibiotics due to continuous sinus infections. As result, I developed an overgrowth of candida(yeast overgrowth)which takes a very long time to be cleansed from the body. There are days when the odor would not be present, some days, mild, and other days it's really bad. After spending almost two thousand dollars is products and going to natural practitioners I decided to change my diet. For the past two weeks I have not smelled any odor and I can smile when I watched the idiots at work still walking back and trying to see if they can smell an odor. Today one of the trouble makers made a comment, "It must be a relief". I pray that this does not happen to any of them. No one will know what this feels like untl they walk in our shoes. I have prayed for a cure for years and hope that I stay odor free forever. I had many thoughts in the past to quit my job but realized this would make my life worse being out of a job for a while. We all must be strong. Please leave the high carb foods alone for a while. Make use of all the alkaline foods. Remember carbs only makes the matter worse. Here is a sight I found two weeks ago. Have faith my friends and get well soon.

I know how most of you feel. TMAU has been a part of me since I reached puberty. My 34 years of life has been nothing but a living hell. What keeps me alive are my loving husband and sons.

Three months ago, I changed my diet by excluding red meat, onions, garlic, curry, indole vegetables like cabbage, milk, eggs, and fish. Copper chlorophyll capsule work miracles as well. There was a tremendous difference.

Remember that everyone has an Achilles' heel. Stay strong.

I just found this site and see that others suffer from this too. This is absolutely unbearable trying to live with this disorder. Losing job, friends, relationships, confidence. what the heck is next! It's impossible to go have a normal life. Thanks for the suggestions on here. I will try. Things can't get any worse! Also I've mentioned this issue to my Dr.s and they have no idea what I'm talking about.....very, very sad situation.

MY BODY ODOR WAS CAUSED BY SODIUM BENZOATE. IT IS USED AS A VERY CHEAP PRESERVATIVE IN A LARGE NUMBER OF FOOD AND DRINKS INCLUDING DIET DRINKS! IT KILLS BACTERIA - BAD AND GOOD! IT CAN DESTROY THE ENZYMES IN YOUR DIGESTIVE SYSTEM AND LEAD TO TERRIBLE BODY ODOR.
THIS IS WHAT I DID:
1) STOP EATING OR DRINKING ANYTHING WITH SODIUM BENZOATE OR POTASSIUM BENZOATE!;
2) BOUGHT A BOTTLE OF MULTI-ENZYMES AND TAKE AT LEAST ONE EVERY DAY - SOMETIMES ONE WITH EVERY MEAL;
3) DRINK LOTS LOTS LOTS OF WATER TO FLUSH YOUR SYSTEM TO GET RID OF THE CRAP;
4) IT HAS ALSO SEEMED BENEFICIAL TO AVOID CRANBERRIES. THEY ARE THE ONLY NATURAL SOURCE OF BENZOATE.
I FINALLY AM BETTER - NO THANKS TO ANY DOCTOR! THE MEDICAL COMMUNITY IS A COMMERCIAL BUSINESS IN THIS COUNTRY AND WILL SELL YOU ALL THE SNAKE OIL THEY CAN SELL YOU AND SEEM TO CLEARLY HAVE LITTLE COMPASSION FOR PATIENTS.
TRY THIS AND GOOD LUCK! REMEMBER - READ YOUR LABELS!!!
What was your odor like? Was it the rotten egg odor?

<quoted text> I have had a similar situation in the past. It would come and go and the degree of the odor would also vary. I started detoxing more often which seems to have helped but i still have recurring issues with body odor. I hope to figure out a solution soon which i will happily share with you.
I have the same issue with a heavy sulphur odor from my body. It feels like from my breath, too, though I believe it's not noticeable to others. I am past menopause and not in a sexual relationship but I do remember having this same odor after sex, like heavy testosterone. I take estrogen that contains testosterone so I wonder if my body is absorbing too much of the male hormone...do you take estrogen?
I notice this odor mostly at the end of a month as when I had that end-of- month PMS with cramps and such. I'll continue to try to find a common answer/solution without having to go thru endocrinology or gyno testing but that may be the best way. Will post to you again if I figure it out.
Good luck to you, too!

I've had the same problem for over 10 years as well. I have seen many doctors and 'specialists' and they all lie to my face and say that they don't smell anything. But the other patients, receptionists, nurses, former coworkers, former friends, strangers, say the opposite.

I have had this for over 20 years and doctors thought i was imaging it! it was awful. Finally i found the tmau website and showed my doctor and the meboresearch website and she acknowledged that there is a problem. this has pretty much destroyed me emotionally, financially and physically. recently thanks to these forums i have started a no/low choline diet and have seen a huge difference also.

When I was approaching menopause, it seemed that showering everyday, wasn't enough. That is to say, I began to have perspiration issues. At that time, I occasionally would have times when I would have a vaginal discharge for no reason at all it seemed. I visited my gyno thinking I had some kind of infection, but it turned out to be nothing at all. The doc said it was fluctuations in hormones and suggested I go on progesterone for a while. I declined because at the time, I didn't believe it was a good idea to interfere with my body's natural processes. The progesterone suggestion was initially because I had uterine fibroid tumors which would grow because of the increase of estrogen. He went on to say that it may help me prevent them from becoming too large and have to resort to a hysterectomy. Well, I should have taken his advice because some of the tumors did become quite large. I also have Hypothyroidism (low functioning thyroid) and I often have fluctuations in body temperature. Even with good hygiene and personal care products, on a very hot day, I can have problems. Unfortunately, I've been embarrassed a few times. To add to my problems, my bladder has weakened, which means I have leaks and must where a Poise pad daily. How do you convince someone when you sweat and have an odor under your arms, etc., that it's not because you didn't wash that day. Everyone who knows me knows how fussy I am about myself, but for people who don't know me or know me well, I may give a false impression. It makes me very anxious and nervous knowing that this could happen anytime or anywhere although it doesn't happen often. I wish some people wouldn't be so ignorant and try to understand what a person may be going through in their lives. Stress, health issues, etc. Instead, they turn right around and can't wait to tell the next person about you. While I know it's suppose to be human nature to not keep a secret, people still should know right from wrong and that what they say can really hurt and ruin someone. That is how people become stero-typed; because of people's cruel gossip. Once you say something about someone, it gets around very fast and people don't usually forget, or want to forget. Keep that in mind when you proceed to destroy someone - and remember, Karma has a way of coming back to you. That is, one day the same thing may happen to you or you could become ill. Think about that because we only go around once in this life.

Two cups of warm, cold or iced Black Tea, with 2 tea bags per cup and one teaspoon of sugar or no sugar will do the trick (Tetley's Premium British Blend Black Tea is the best). ALSO, Dannon Activia Probiotic Yogurt (vanilla is the best) will make the black tea work even better when eliminating BO, BB, TMAU 1 and TMAU 2.

Black tea is a known natural body deodorizer. This delicious drink is chalk full of antioxidants, vitamins, and trace minerals.
Try rinsing your mouth with a solution of black tea or putting a cup of brewed black tea in your bath or simply drop 4 or 5 tea bags of black tea in your bath water.

I smelled like rotting fish. Afterwards, and with some time most of the odor subsided but there are certain times when it will flair up again. When that happens, I control it with diet, laxatives,

I may have found a cure for this. I eliminated dairy in all forms and ALL sources of added fats (egg yolks, oils of any type, trimming fat off meats, only choosing the lowest fat meats, no avocado etc ) hope this helps you guys. Also this cleared up my acne and excessive sweating too
