Numerous residents in Felton and elsewhere called authorities starting about 5:40 p.m. after a meteor shower sent streaks across the sky at sunset Saturday.

Santa Cruz does not have mountains only hills. The meth heads in these hills spend allot of time hallucinating. Hard for them to tell reality from delusions. Why some are direct descendants of Mountain Charlie! Did he really have part of his skull made from melted pesos after the grizzly gnawed on him? Sounded plausible after a jug of whiskey and a card game.

We saw it as we drove out Mission Street. The smoke trail stayed for a very long time indicating it was something very different.

Taurids tend to be fireballs, bright enough to be seen even in twilight skies. At the time of the Bay Area fireball, the constellation Taurus was rising in the east, so the fireball's identification as a Taurid seems probable, albeit not certain."

i live near downtown santa cruz and saw it too. a huge almost florescent ball arcing across the sky. it was awesome.

It was the biggest, brightest, fastest meteor I ever saw. I thought it was te space station to tell the truth.
