If "Littlemore" is Anglo-Saxon for "really not a whole hell of a lot" and "Iffley" is Old Danish for "iffy" why isn't there a village named "Nevermind" or "Feckoff" or "Sezwho"? The UK is big on local commissions to grant suffrage to newts and preserve the village strumpet, why not adjust village names? For example, ditch "Chipping-cum-Womdale " for "Rub-A-Dub-Dumpling" or "Farthing-my-Ass" or "Lower Humpqueen"? Oh to be from Littlemore ...
