Giant beetles seized at post office

Customs agents seized more than two dozen giant beetles -- some the size of a child's hand -- from an overseas package after postal workers heard the insects making scratching noises.

What do you mean no charge will be filed? What's the mater with the government? They should nail these senders to the barn door, lock them upand throw away the key. This is a serious matter that should be taken seriously and now is the time to tell the world we aren't going to accept your garbage. First it was lead contamination toys for our kids from China, then it was lead based dental work from China, now it's giant beetles from Taiwan? Let's sto importing trouble and start buying American makde products and drop NAFTA.

These are CROP DESTROYING INSECTS that could potentially multiply like rabbits and do untold damage to America's farmlands and orchards. There is already an Asian fish (a type of carp) that has invaded waterways in Arkansas that is eating and destroying all animal and plant life and leaving the lakes dead. Houston, Texas has been fighting an infestation of "crazy rasberry ants" that do not succumb to any insecticide and reproduce quickly and by the millions who are attracted to electrical currents and are destroying computers and technology by eating through the wires. BOTH the sender and the recipient NEED to be thoroughly investigated UNLESS nobody gives a darn, in which case WHY are we in Iraq?

You are so right!!!!!!!! This places a whole new spin on "Bio" terrorism. The State Department should immediately label Taiwan a Terrorist State. The President should mobilize our few remaining stateside troops and invade the island nation ASAP before the Taiwanese have the time to weaponize this "bug" and unlease it on the American people. God help us and go out and buy yourself a really big can of Raid.

Imagine these things creeping into your house late at night rather than the roaches were use to! The intentions could have been for scientific study depending on who the package was being sent to, but could it be someones intentions to begin a bug invasion? and why?

The sender and the recipient SHOULD have the book thrown at them!!!!! Our inept government will probably just say "tsk, tsk" and that will be the end of it ... until the next time.

Because the beetles didn't know the way to Philly.

Stink bugs from China, now these things from Taiwan. Wonder what other 'things' have come in to this country undetected (besides the illegal immigrants)?
