OH PU-LEEEEZE! The war is OVER!
How about the "activists" apologize to the taxpayers for subsidizing the welfare lifestyle of the majority of minorities. Apologize to the hundreds of thousands of victims of their crimes, from assault, to robbery, to murder, to rape.

Will this acomplish anything if the state of Florida(made up of whites, blacks, browns, Asians, bi-racials, etc) apologizes for the abuses of the great, great, great, great, great grandparents of some people in the state to the great, great, great, great, great grandkids of some of the people of this state? See how silly this sounds? Does it do anything to change the victimhood mentality still held by some. I doubt it. Our legislators need to concentrate on today's abuses against ALL the people of Florida: still too-high property insurance, still too high property taxes, lack of proper monies for education, lack of good-paying jobs, withering tourist dollars, and our aging infrastructure. These are just a few. It is time for today's legislators to work on today's problems. An apology for actions 200 years ago will not make anyone any better off today.
If people aren't past it by now, it is because they NEVER want to be.

"I" owe them so much more than an apology. It is so obvious it is "MY" fault (born in 1969)."I"feel "I" owe them a ticket (one way ,of course) back from where "I"took them from.

We Floridians do not owe anyone anything. Slavery was a thing of the past. Noone apoligized to me for my ancestors who were indentured servants and had it rough..Besides the slaves were often sold by their own families to make money...Let them sure their ancestors..

Why are we still apologizing??? I do not think any of us was around when the war ended. Plus we are still paying WALFARE. Get over it you have had several generations to get your act together. What about our forefaters who came over here with nothing and they WORKED did not cry for hand outs. Go get a job and work make your own way. If we teach you to fish you will eat for a life time, if you give you fish you will only eat for a day. GO FISH. I owe you nothing.

This sounds foolish. Don't these people have any serious business to take care of? If not then disband and stop wasting my tax dollars.

Hold on a second. Apologize for what and to who? Back in the day slavery was legal. I wanna know who these moronic law makers are who are wasting our money talking about things that happened 200 years ago instead of pressing the insurance companies to lower homeowners rates, talking to oil companies to lower gas prices, talking to each other to cut governmnet waste so that property taxes can come down. Idiots talk about the future not the past. Whats next lets appologize to the slaves and maybe pay each of their offspring cash money? God you liberals make me sick.

Doesn't the State Senate have many more important issues to address in this legislative session? Stop the grandstanding! The Legislature should have a guilty conscience, not because of slavery, but because they still haven't corrected the present day inequities like the PROPERTY TAX SYSTEM AND SALES TAX EXEMPTIONS! And while you're at it pass a resolution of apology to the citizens for allowing the insurance industry to put a strangle-hold on us.

I agree 100%. You couldn't have said it bette. Let us look at the real problems here instead of blowing smoke and wasting more money on useless things. But I guess these lawmakers are sitting in Tallahassee collecting hundreds of thousands of dollars each year but have nothing to do all day.

Tony Hill,(African American) KNOCK IT OFF!!! Why can't this guy just stop it. African Americans like him just want to continue the drum beat about slavery. Good God, that ended over 150 years ago. People today hardly know what the Emanciation Proclamation is about. We can have a Black History Month but if somebody proclaimed a White History month there would be a riot in this country, etc, etc, etc. There is only one group of folks that continue to ride this dead horse and your first two guesses do not count. How about somebody recommending a "PROUD AMERICAN MONTH"!!!!! WE ARE ALL JUST AMERICANS WHETHER WE ARE WHITE, BLACK, BROWN, ETC, ETC, ETC.

I disagree. Slavery is as old as the human race. It existed in the United States (mostly in the south) because it was the Africans who enslaved other Africans and sold them to the Europeans and then to the United States. Maybe an apology from Africa is in order for selling their own people into slavery. They are
responsible, not the South.
