Their View: Prosperity in the Wild West of immigration reform

There are 15 comments on the Silver City Sun-News story from Jul 1, 2012, titled Their View: Prosperity in the Wild West of immigration reform. In it, Silver City Sun-News reports that:

The recent decision by the U.S. Supreme Court has the potential to open the door to misguided and expensive state-based immigration proposals, and may increase the possibility of one-upmanship we have already seen in Arizona, Alabama, South Carolina, and several other states who are vying for the title of least friendly to undocumented immigrants.

Nope, just wondering how come you're on here again so soon? I guess you don't think the rules apply to you.

What aging liberal hippy douche wrote this article? Another dimwit who still believes in unicorns, and happy endings. There are no happy endings anymore, it's only survival of the fittest, not who can breed like vermin.

I did read the article and its the same old bull. How the federal immigration system is broken. How we need to' Our neighbor to the north, Canada, allows each of its regions to designate workers based on the needs of local economies — needs that might include filling a nursing shortage, finding tech industry entrepreneurs, or recruiting experienced agricultural workers to pick valuable crops that must be harvested by hand.' How we need flexibility to do the same in the USA. But the thing is we do. We take in one f$%king million legal immigrants from all over the world, most who are from intelligent educated countries. The system isn't broken Mr.Cervantes and Mr.Maestas, we just are not enforcing the immigration laws because some phat cats are
making money off 20 million illegals.

If the United States simply enforced the immigration laws it has on the books there would be very little illegal aliens here. If the United States adopted some of the immigration law Mexico has and enforced them like Mexico does there would be even fewer illegal aliens in the United States.
If the United States would enforce the Supreme Court ruling on birthright citizenship then illegal aliens brithing children on American soil would not be getting citizenship for those children as the birth parent would not be able to prove they are legally residing in the United States.

Dino Cervantes is the president of the New Mexico Chile Association.
Ah - he's in AgriBusiness. Of course he wants a black market labor force - that's more money for his growers - at the expense of NM taxpayers.

Thanks, Dino, for being perfectly willing to sell out NM taxpayers like myself! I hope someday I get the pleasure of screwing you out of your hard-earned money.

Abraham Vereide (October 7, 1886 - May 16, 1969) was a Norwegian-born Methodist clergyman and founder of Goodwill Industries of Seattle. In 1935, Vereide founded the prayer breakfast movement in the United States. In 1942, Vereide established International Christian Leadership, incorporated as Fellowship Foundation, in Chicago as the U.S. headquarters for the prayer breakfast movement. He was the executive director of this organization until his death. In 1953, Vereide started the Presidential Prayer Breakfast, later called the National Prayer Breakfast or the International Prayer Breakfast.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

The roots of the Fellowship go back to the 1930s and a Norwegian immigrant and Methodist minister named Abraham Vereide. According to Fellowship archives maintained at the Billy Graham Center at Wheaton College in Illinois, Vereide, who immigrated from Norway in 1905, began an outreach ministry in Seattle in April 1935. But his religious outreach involved nothing more than pushing for an anti-Communist, anti-union, anti-Socialist, and pro-Nazi German political agenda. A loose organization and secrecy were paramount for Vereide. Fellowship archives state that Vereide wanted his movement to “carry out its objective through personal, trusting, informal, unpublicized contact between people.” Vereide’s establishment of his Prayer Breakfast Movement for anti-Socialist and anti-International Workers of the World (IWW or “Wobblies”) Seattle businessmen in 1935 coincided with the establishment of another pro-Nazi German organization in the United States, the German-American Bund. Vereide saw his prayer movement replacing labor unions.

Got that right. In addition it appears he has a doubly vested personal economic interest in cheap Latin immigration both to buy his chile and to work his farm cheap as he sure as hell is not going to soil his hands actually farming.

Somehow in all this booming immigration Mr. Cervantes has NOTHING to say about the 20 million unemployed and underemployed Americans. How about not flooding the country with cheap labor and sweatshop businesses for entrepreneurship? I'm sure a gang of pimps bringing in underage girls counts as a "small business owner" for Mr. Cervantes along with every drug dealer, gun runner, and gang banger. Yes we see LOTS of entrepreneurship by our illegal aliens and our prisons are full of such "business" people.

I have a much better idea. Cut ALL immigration and kick the illegals out until every American has a job or could have one. Let's put Americans into our colleges and let them get technical degrees. Instead the colleges and industry prefer to bring in foreigners and give them the degrees and hire them cheaper than Americans. Then they let the general taxpayer pick up the tab. How about anyone bringing in an immigrant cover the FULL COSTS of that Immigrant and any family for TEN FULL YEARS. If the immigrant has kids, the business hiring pays the full cost ($10K each per year) for them to go to public school and the business pays that for a full ten years instead of dumping them on the taxpayer. Now we will see how cheap that cheap labor is when the employer has to pick up the tab instead of the American taxpayer.

Mr. Cervantes failed to note that Alabama's unemployment rate has fallen as the illegals have left.

Hey Mr. Cervantes, let the states that want to kick the illegals out and the states that want them can offer sanctuary and pick up the cost for them as long as they don't leave the sanctuary state. That has bankrupted California. How come Mr. Cervantes FAILS miserably to use California, Nevada, and Illionois as examples of the benefits of immigration? Is that because those states loaded up on legal and then illegal aliens and now are becoming bankrupt? If you want examples of how immigration and illegal aliens KILL the Golden Goose just look at California! It is a classic textbook case how excessive immigration, illegal aliens, and added to that left wing political machines can destroy a once great economy.

We need LESS IMMIGRATION NOW!

Don't be fooled by the BS that Cervantes spewed.
