Farmer's markets extend food stamp value

Buying healthy and local food can be a struggle on a tight budget. But our Cara Thomas reports that a North County organization is continuing a six year program that makes it easier for those in need to buy local produce fresh from the farm.

Can't get or don't try to get most people on welfare are scumbags there are people who need it but they are few and far between

i do believe people need help but their are people that abuse the system. i am lucky i do have a job but when iam off for the summer and try to get food stamps they treated me like a scum and i work i just need alittle help. i just wish they would help the working people we are like between. but i do not have anything against people that need the help but people that abuse the system that wrong.

Well good,I wouldn't wish anyone not to have food.whatever their case may be,I still would want them to eat.and its not because I'm someone who ever used it .I retired from power authority after 40 years plus and payed plenty of taxes and benifits like this don't upset me.live and let live .

That's the problem nobody cares so it continues that's why things are the way they are now nobody cares let whoever do whatever and I won't care until it affects me but If you look at they way things are free handouts have done more harm then good. I'm not saying let them go hungry I'm saying they don't need cell phones they don't need candy and top of the line everything. While I work full time and struggle they sit back and collect and enjoy life it shouldn't work like that those who work get shit on while those who do nothing get rewarded.

You are right for sure they should be living a more conservative life and working towards their independence and a life off the support system.I have known many people in my life that have used the services for only long enough and then made great productive community members.I guess I don't know what is going on with these new generations.
