Mitt Romney's bizarre 'Rising Oceans' laugh line at GOP convention speech

Aug 31, 2012 Full story: Examiner.com 325

There was a certain amount of "theater of the bizarre" during the Republican National Convention last night, but it wasn't just an iconic 82-year-old actor ad-libbing a rambling talk to an empty chair - it was Mitt Romney using global warming and the documented reality of rising sea levels as a laugh line to mock President Obama and tickle the GOP ... Flooding has always happened. Climate skeptics admit climate always changes.

The funny thing, this flooding is man made, man made tunnels flooded by nature's storm. The deeper we dig, the more drainage we get, the deeper the flood. Holland has a long history of man made flooding too.

We need to prepare for climate change by improving drainage and flood control, not mitigate climate change by restricting fossil fuel emissions. New York needs fossil fuel to power pumps to drain the subways.

We need an energy policy that encourages the production and use of energy and fuel.

It was shut down in the past for PUDDLES. i.e water getting onto the tracks and risking a short of the third rail. You claimed 'six of seven feet' of flooding which NEVER HAPPENED. Nor does your reference support this nonsense.
Puddles, now I know you didn't bother to do any research. Otherwise you would of known that the electrified rail or third rail is not like the others. It is higher up so that "puddles" do not short it out. I noticed it when I was last in NYC. In fact the trains themselves run on DC and would not be affected by a little water. The tunnel infrastructure on the other hand runs on AC. Things like fans, and lighting.

Maybe I should not be surprised you have not bothered to do the research. After all, if you had ever done any research you just might have to admit that you have been wrong. I doubt your fragile male ego could handle being wrong and it would even be worse to admit that to a woman.

Compared to the floor to ceiling flooding from Sandy, yes, even reaching or threatening to reach the third rail is nothing but puddles.

Get a life, Tina.

Repeal 22nd Amendment

.......and that was year one.

He actually said 'day one'. Busy day..

Can we forget about Romney now?

He has made his exit line.

Mitt Romney held a conference call with top donors on Wednesday to speak about his election loss. The former presidential hopeful reflected on his campaign, as well as the approach that President Barack Obama. In part, he said, the president won because of the “gifts” he gave to key groups of voters.

“The President’s campaign,” he said,“focused on giving targeted groups a big gift—so he made a big effort on small things. Those small things, by the way, add up to trillions of dollars.”

So he blames his failure on 'Money and the Ethnic vote". Hmm. Where have I heard that whining note before?

"Money and the ethnic vote" Jacques Parizeau on losing the Quebec Independence referendum vote.

At least Romney phrased it a little less bluntly..

If Parizeau had to deal with only 'Real Quebecers' he would have won. And if Romney had to deal with only "Real Americans" he would have won. But politicians have to deal with the issues of ALL people, so they lose out to more 'inclusive' leaders

On average, the people who can afford to waste time and money to get elected have an income of $1.8M. Of course, they get the best of everything. They are rich. Even if they couldn't vote themselves the best of perks, they would still get the best of everything.

But their pensions and perks are trivial compared to the billions they dole out behind closed doors to 'vested interests'.

The problem is NOT government. It is the lack of honest grass roots and a system that rewards self serving deals. Time to make politicians PUBLIC SERVANTS again. If the rich WANT to be elected, time to look closer.

Dictatorships ALWAYS hide behind rhetoric and slogans.

Fact is that the USA is currently "of the wealthy, by the rich, for the elite". And most of them cannot even say where the 'for the people' quote is from. They thinks it was in the constitution..
(hint: Abe Lincoln at Gettysberg). The quote is not about US Republic but the idea of Democracy, which has never been adopted. The US rich like their Republic. It serves THEM.
