However, Svalbard hasn't been such, being detached from the Arctic Ice Pack for 4+ months. For that period of time & before, Svalbard & as much as multiple millions of km2 of open Arctic Ocean & seas were collecting solar energy, reducing & keeping at bay, the huge quantities of Arctic Ice Pack.

Even now, with temperatures sometimes in the mid minus teen degC & Svalbard in Arctic darkness 24/7, it is STILL CLEAR of the Arctic Ice Pack.
