Not much of a harvest this year for area farmers
The good news is that there probably won't be as many farm accidents during this year's harvest.

What's the difference the taxpayers will foot the bill for the shortage. Then we taxpayers will fund their big fat welfare subsidies checks. Poor things.

It's the big farms that make money off of the subsidies-- NOT the small family farms. Subsidies are paid for low prices NOT low production.. At least the farmers are willing to work for what they get-- not holding their hands out to get something for nothing!

The only government money most farmers will get this year is crop insurance proceeds, if they sustain a loss. Most years the crop insurance program MAKES money for the government because premiums paid by farmers exceed the amounts paid out.
"In 2009 and 2010, the government made $1.4 billion from the crop insurance program because premiums collected exceeded loss claims paid out. That money went into the general treasury." ~ABC News
