First, I would like to go into this posting with unbiased opinion. I don’t see that it’s fair to say Mr. McLagan is this or Mr. McLagan is that. I don’t know the man personally so I am relying on facts. Pure facts. Not hear-say, plain facts. That being said I would like to discuss the situation at hand.

I have been following these postings for a few days and it's quite an interesting situation. From what I have read, Mr. McLagan seems like a gentlemen and a scholar. I also did some background research and it seems he's a very bright man as well (featured in the Who's Who). He also seems to have a great impact on the community and appears to be exceedingly involved.

The situation is very unique in the sense that a political figured posted bail for an alleged (and I stress the word alleged – remember, we are all innocent until proven guilty by a panel of our peers) criminal. I think these postings would be far more effective if we could collectively talk to people who have benefitted from Mr. Lagan’s work, the success stories if you will. It’s very easy to kick a man when he is down, and it seems like everyone is jumping on the bandwagon. Is it possible that Mr. McLagan helped several hundred home buyers with their “dream home”? Is it possible that he is actually a good man, with good intentions who landed him-self in a bad position?

Everyday people are forced to make decisions. Maybe Mr. McLagan was making a decision with good intentions but things did not work out. From my understanding, Mr. McLagan was intending to finish these projects and/or fully compensate the involved parties. I’d like to speak with someone who was directly affected. What was the time frame in which Mr. McLagan was supposed to deliver set goods? I feel like there is several holes in this whole situation and some clarity would help.

And on the other hand, I could be entirely wrong. Maybe this is the evil man that the media is making him out to be. It’s hard to say that with confidence because of the communal stories I have heard from blog postings, internet writing, and some other media outlets. I’m not quite sure what to make of things. I’d like to hear what others have to say in response to my comments.

Thank you.

Mr. Davidson,
Please stay out of our business, Mr. Mclagin took 180k in goods and services from me, with no explination as to why i did not get paid. My company has sence folded and my wife of 17 years left me, all because this idiot couldnt pay his tab, Go take your unbiased opinion and stuff it up your rear. Mclagan has ruined many many many lives in this town with his crap.

I can't judge either the mayor or the builder but some initial thoughts that come to mind are, why would a builder of this caliber not be able to come up with $16,000 to bail himself out? Not sure I could ask my friend the mayor to bail me out, if I were a true friend I might consider the ramifications of that and ask someone else. If I were the mayor why wouldn't I have given the money to the wife who could have bailed him out in her name? It just seems that it would have been smarter to have someone with a lower public profile help out.

I have to agree with Luna. Who knows at this point. It seems like not everything has surfaced yet either. But giving the money to a lower profile person prob. would have been best.

Personal attacks on family members do very little to substantiate your claims. They are simply rude, narrow-minded, and unworthy of reading. Innocent until proven guilty, correct? I highly doubt everyone here is informed of the details of any business deal or contract. We can all wait and see. Snide remarks do not need to be made.

I too have been in Real Estate and have worked with Jim one-on-one. He is a great guy who made mistakes. He is not a criminal by any means and his three sons are remarkable. I agree he made a big mistake, but I know it was not on purpose.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Cancer

It's a sensational Full Moon in your sign, combined with a lunar eclipse! Holy cow! However, once you accept that even the best-laid plans could go awry today, you'll find that life is a lot easier to cope with. Try your hardest to take everything in your stride, even if you do have to rethink an arrangement at the eleventh hour. At least it's never a dull moment! Do your best not to let the tensions of the day spoil what promises to be some spectacular New Year's Eve celebrations. It will be an opportunity to let off steam. Have fun!
