That's the volunteer fire department - calling the volunteers to duty.

I think it's a dated and poor effort on behalf of that dept. to use a)horn of that tone for an emergency, and b) to still be using a horn when all of those men/women have cell phones and/or would wear a pager. I've always wondered how many people try to get out of their renters contract near the horn. Or the thought of some poor guy signing a year away in that nice local, only to hear that horn the second it was too late to negate. Volunteer FF guys are awesome, we love 'em. I wouldn't be suprised if it was on Colma land however, and there aren't enough living people there to vote on it.

I grew up in that north valley, and I miss it every second of my days here. It would be dumb to list off what happens around here, but you're in about as good a place a fella could be a cop. The fells here can't freely apply themselves or be a person of the comunity because their either anti-social punks, or are concerned they'll be ridiculed for their decency. With one look at their station from Sullivan Ave. it looks like their defending themselves against their own public.

Are you kidding. I used to stay at my GF house on East Market. They would blow that horn whenever they felt the need. Day, night, Ramadan, Hanukkah, whatever. I remember staying up one night and they would just "blip" it. 2AM, yeah... you are f'ed you mofo. WTF, get rid of it. Useless noise!

Isn't it time to get rid of this noisy relic, and resort to a modern way of notifying the volunteer fire department.

I think its so stupid to continue to use the horn that basically annoys it's nearby residence... Why continue to use such noise that really serves no purpose, but to annoy? Time we write a letter to the city mayor and stop this nonsense... With all the modern technology we have now; cellphones, text msgs, and instant msg, that these retards would resort to bonehead signals...

They have no common F'n sense too.. they just blow their stupid horn any freakin time they want, from early in the morning to late at night..

I dont expect these guys to invent the next Google, but have some freakin brains to realize what the F your doing to people around you...

If all youre doing is alarming or waking up in house firefighters you have to rethink your choices...

The meathead who agreed to keep the horn should be slapped with a salami stick...
