Good...I am so glad that the police aren't afraid to tell it like it is, and express their disgust at these two idiots. Both of them deserved to get whacked by the phantom SUV, as far as I'm concerned. I thought SEAL members aren't supposed to divulge their names to the press for security reasons? Frick'n DeFranco ought to be ashamed of himself for allowing himself to be put into a position that would incite a physical drunken confrontation. He doesn't deserve to wear the Navy uniform or his frigg'n Trident pin!

Police said that there are 2 separate incidents.
1. Jaywalking 2. The vehicle fleeing the scene of a hit and run. The Jeep driver was probably drunk or on parole or had drugs in the Jeep blah, blah, blah. Point is don't jaywalk or drink and drive and hit someone or something and flee. Several people made bad choices that early morning.

Yep, these two idiots deserved exactly what they got. If there is a check off list for "Things to Do To Guarantee That I will Get Run Over By A Car", these two jerks had a check mark next to every item on the list.

Drunk, fighting, middle of the street, night-time. The only thing they forgot was a big sign around their necks saying "Please, we are idiots. Run Over us!"

I hope they find the guy driving the SUV, but only so they will know to whom to send the reimbursement for the damage they did to his car.

You people are unbelievable! I hope to God each and everyone of you suffer as the families of these VICTIMS are suffering.

I'm wondering if you are friends of the driver or even the driver him/herself trying to demonize the victims in the eyes of the public so you don't look like the cowardly piece of trash you are.

They aren't victims. They are jerks. They are victims of their own stupidity.

Dago, You are a sick person. first of all the story is wrong--The two young Victoms--yes victoms, did not know each other and they were not fighting, they ran across the street to break up a fight! Second Sal DeFranco is lying in the hospital in a coma, fighting for his lif--You have the balls to say he deserved it!!
Who made you judge and jury?? I hope to God you never have to go through what we-his family are going through right now--If you do, you will hate yourself for what you wrote about Sal. Don't worry, you will learn how ignorant you are some day--and I hope people show you more compassion than you have shown--you should be ashamed!!!!!!!

If they were just running across the street to break up a fight- and totally uninvolved otherwise- then I take back everything I said.
The story as reported in the media is that they were drunk, fighting and when their fight spilled into the street they were hit by a car.
My point here is that to be a "VICTIM" one needs to be innocent- without responsibility for the circumstances of your troubles.

And frankly,to all you MA posters, we here in San Diego are totally fed up with the stories of drunken, violent and trashy behavior by visitors to Pacific Beach that we see in the papers and on the news nearly every day.

If it is true that these two guys were just walking down the street and happened upon a good deed that needed doing, then fine, maybe then they were without blame and simply looking to save lives and be good Samaritans.

It will be interesting to see what the facts actually are.

So far the only facts reported are that they themselves were drunk, that they themselves were fighting and that when their fight spilled into the street a passing car- that otherwise was breaking no rules or laws- hit them.

Hardly the stuff that victims are made of.

I agree that whatever the circumstances their families and loved ones are the victims of someones bad decisions.

You should be ashamed of yourself. Salvatore is my cousin and you are disgusting for saying people deserve this type of accident. What kind of monster are you?

You are so rude. Why would you go out of your way to make people feel bad in a time like this? Do you have no heart?

What they are saying is that, according to the "facts" reported so far, your cousin and his friend created the circumstances that resulted in their ending up in the hospital. If this is not so, then we have yet to see it in the press or in the media.

Also, Sarah, disagreeing with you doesn't make me rude or heartless. I refuse to be told who is and who isn't a victim. I'll make those decisions based on the facts of the situation. If you do not wish to have public comment on what you regard as a private family matter then maybe you should keep your comments private also.

Despite the choices The Two Fighting Victims made-provides No-One with the justication of Running Them Down-like Dogs-then fleeing The Scene...

Given that Men sometimes settle their differences with fists-the Cowardly SUV Driver actions cannot be justified...

They didn't get run down like dogs. They placed themselves in front of a moving vehicle the driver of which had no option but to hit them.
Jennifer, you seem to be of the old "I drink therefore I am" mentality.
Nope, if the facts are as they have been reported then these two "fighting men" dug their own holes.

Lets face it. According to the police, the entire street and side walks were crowded with rowdy, drunken brawling misfits. Not one of whom was capable, of coherently describing what happened.

Why would the driver stop? He probably was scared. That doesn't make him a coward. He probably took one look at that gang of drunken brawling morons and quite sensibly decided to call it a night.

Hehe, and no, I am not the driver of the SUV, related to him/her or his/her lawyer.
