All those poor poor murderers and pedophiles and criminals, life is sooooo tough behind bars----<quoted text>let me clear up a whole lot of myths here, the health care in prison is near non-existan, takes two to three weeks to see a doctor on any aliment, longer for a dentist, no cavity repair, only pulling of teeth, but by the time, you see the dentist, it is all abcessed, and infected and can't be pulled untill the infection is controlled. no pain meds, just tylanol. there is no cable tv anywhere in califorina prison system. it is a cable antennea that picks up local stations only, you dont get a tv in your cell unless someone buys one for you, or you can afford to buy one, and if you are lucky enough to have a pay job, pay is somewhere between .11 and .16 cents an hour, so tv's aren't all that prevelent, now about those three meals a day, yes you get three, good luck getting them down, the food is the worst anywhere, a meal costs the state for each prisoner $1.22 per meal lets see you eat on that and even fill you up. most inmates but raman soups and make things from those because the food is so bad, most of the inmates that you hear "commit crime to go back in" are instituanalized to the point that society is overwhelming to them because nobody is telling them when to eat when to dress when to work, ect, the biggest problem in prison is that there is no rehabilitation. If you put a broken tv in your garage for 5-10 years, go and plug it back in without somebody doing something to it, its still broken, what is it that you expect from these prisoners to do when most cant read, have no job skills, are not hired because of stereotyping, and their gate money ($200.00) runs out and they are hungry again, they recommit half the time to just survive. would you have one of your family treated this way? most families have a reletive in the prison system now and treatment is slightly above human diginity, You may say that they don't deserve any better, but the men and women that are paroling will be living near you and I, and if we don't do something to give those a second chance that want one, they will eventually recommit, and cost you and I more money in our overcrowded prison system. I might also suggest that most of us have done something in our lives that could very easily bring us to prison, and wouldn't that change your opinion of the treatment of human beings, albiet broken ones, but still human beings and bare minimum medical treatment
spare me dude, sounds like you were there and are trying to be some kinda of tweeker criminal advocate or something----if this was a another country most of these scumbags would have already been long executed. Exspecially the illegals.
