I was just wondering if someone can tell me where the majority of these are located.
I lived there in the nineties and was just wondering if any of the deaths might be near La Costa Spa or Spyglass Point in Carlsbad.
I notice the subdivision has alot of homes for sale and could this be the reason why.

You can view the map of the locations here.

They keep saying that it is not a cluster. It does not take a genius to look at this map and see that certain neighborhoods have bunches of markers and then where I live in Calavera Hills have none.(Thankful for that!)

There is a "confirmed cancer cluster" in FL that has way less cases than CBad does. I think they are very reluctant to admit its a cluster because it will ruin property values and tourism.

Carlsbad has built itself upon the promise of family values with good neighbors and a safe place to live.
Wonder how long they will continue to deny this and how many more people have to die before they start testing the water and soil around the region.
If it proves to be nothing then let it be proven but why continue to deny it if there is a problem.
How many more of Carlsbad residents must die before something is done.

I'd like to hear more about the cancers in De Anza Mobile Home Park because I know that many were developed on top of old dumpsites (landfills) containing carcinogenic chemicals.

Have these been investigated? I thought I read something on one of the schools in the area doing some testing, but reports showed negative on, I believe it was soil samples.

I suspect Poinsettia Elementary School may be on an old dumpsite containing carcinogenic chemicals. Here are some facts:
1. Methane gas was found to be present in the soil throughout the school property. Most old dumpsites generate methane gas.
2. Pits and quarries were often used as dumps after mining ceased. Poinsettia Elementary School is surrounded by streets named Mica, Titanite, and Geode, suggesting mining might have taken place in that area.
3. Many schools across the country were built on closed landfills containing carcinogenic chemicals.

The Poinsettia Elementary School property needs to be investigated to determine it the land was formerly used as a dumpsite.

I was diagnosed with young onset parkinson's disease two years ago at the age of 39. Parkinson's doesn't run in my family. I have wondered if my diagnosis may have something to do with the related cancer cluster issues and suspicions of toxic materials being in the ground in Carlsbad. I lived in Carlsbad in 1980-81 on Sierra Madre or it may have been Sierra Morena Ave. Our house backed up against an area that had tomato fields. At the time I was in 5th and 6th grade and I went to Kelly Elementary School which has been in the news for suspected Cancer clusters. I can't help wondering if my diagnosis had to do with the possibility that the schools and homes were built on fields that were toxic from pesticide use and the fact that tomatoes and their associated pesticides were grown right outside my bedroom window. It would be interesting to try and find students that went to Kelly during that time to find out if there are any more kids that grew up and developed suspicious cancers or neurological disorders. Feel free to contact me to discuss at [email protected]

Thank you for the info Jillsantos, I will contact you soon. I've been off the computer for a month due to "internet burn-out" and have been enjoying life without the internet. I'm back and just read your message. I'm still investigating Carlsbad and look forward to our sharing of information.

I lived in Northern California as a child and was regularly exposed to crop dusters. As an adult, I could not get pregnant and neither could several childhood friends. It turns out I had a pituitary tumor for over 20 years. I've since learned that pesticides cause pituitary tumors in rats, and this research has been presented to the government who fails to recognize the possibility that pesticides can do the same in humans. My sister now has endocrine pancreatic cancer, which is different than the typical adenocarcinoma of the pancreas. They also sprayed herbicides from the crop dusters which are known to cause cancer. The thing about Kelly elementary school is that there is airborne pesticides and herbicides nearby, which is bad. This is in addition to the power lines which draw airborne pollutants to them! Your guess is most likely correct; the question is which chemical caused the parkinsons?

I was wondering, after registering around 50-100 milliguass on an ELF meter (when under 1 is normal and safe to live around), why have they not seen the HUGE power lines that run parallel to the school? I went over with a family member just to see what it would read and was amazed. Most of the power lines are right on top of some of the houses and right near the front entrance of the school registered really high as well. You can even hear the buzzing from them from the street. Why was this not looked into?
