For the record, at 3:30 this morning when my husband and I were awakend by this crash (100 feet from our home), the last thought we had on our minds was how fast this guy was going. I wept and prayed for the family and the driver, because somewhere in San Diego a mother and father were going to be as rudely awakened as we were with the not so good news that their baby was dead. Wise up folks. Life is short.

Thank you for your prayers. They are a family of great faith and will need God's strength to move forward. He was coming home or going to work...no details yet. He worked nights, may have fallen asleep. Life is very short..he was 25. He was a great kid, great ballplayer.

He actually had been exhausted and was heading to work at 3:30am. He was a driver for a freight company. No one will ever know the actual events that happened that horrible night, but my guess is that he fell asleep at the wheel.
It is a terrible tragedy.

Isn't the speed limit through the canyon 50 mph? It's like a mini roller coaster rider.

for the record "Dago" the posted speed limit on Balboa is 45 mph most people go 55 mph. The base of the telephone pole that was hit is CONCRETE. There are no skid marks, like "acquaintance" said, he could have just drifted off to sleep. Like I said, life is short. Hug your loved ones and please stop judging people.

That's kind of hard to do, unless you stare into a mirror all the time. Not sure how your face is configured, but I can't see my mouth when I look down.

you are are fool, yep you are at that...His Aunt has every right to comment on the fact that he was a great ball player...Obviously that was a big part of his life, and his family will miss watching him play, watching him enjoy a sport...OK, he dies, the accident happened...People like you never cease to amaze me with your stupidity and cruelty. Are you perfect? He was Loved by his family and friends. So his AUNT saying he was great baseball
player, you just had to get that dig in "Bad Driver" didn't you? What if you had a Son and this happened to him? Would you like to see people mocking his death? Hopefully you don't have children.I feel so much pity for you, how immature and hateful you are...from me, My prayers are with the family...

....so let's see; he was called back into work, no doubt when he went home he had not been drinking or anything else. He is called back into work to "haul freight" in a BIGGER vehicle. He is "tired" yet there were no 7-11's open that time of the morning for coffee or anything else, but he did know there was one down the hill in PB so he thought if he drove real fast, he would get there before he fell asleep!

Fortunately, for any "family of the driver" that he did NOT hit, he instead hit a pole!

Yes, that sounds crass, but as Archie Bunker said once to Gloria; "Little girl, if they take away the guns, is it better he gets thrown out the window"?
