I don't consider changing the time stamp of an article as updating it. It's misleading and wastes the time of those searching for the latest information. There is not one word in this bulletin that has been altered or updated since it first appeared.

this is really sad....sometimes life is just too much for some people to bare. Suicide should never be the answer.

It shouldn't, no...sigh. I'm making myself sick worrying about the identity of the young man... No matter what age your children are, you never stop worrying.

I know what you mean sdcharger,I feel so bad for the family of this troubled young person and what they are going through right now, called my son after I read this even tho he is older than the young man.

I wish the media would hold on to stories like this until the family can be notified. I'm sure I'm not the only mother who's nerves are on end waiting for an identification to be made. No matter who this young man is, it saddens me that society failed him and he felt that death was his only choice. He must have been in terrible pain to have come to that conclusion. Tragic...

Wow! I was reading the CHP Traffic Incident page when I saw this incident listed and I followed the notes until the posting that he jumped. I was stunned. Then there was nothing more. No more info. I hoped that he was alright. That he could be rescued. From the CHP notes it said he was military. I stayed up most of the night trying to find information, then again early this morning. I know how he feels although I would not actually do it. I know the feeling.

This story should not have been run. For years most municipalities refused to report such acts to prevent copycat jumpers.
Recently this code of silence was lifted for the SF Golden Gate bridge because of media heat. That bridge has been under scrutiny and pressure to create a barrier to keep ppl from jumping.
Maybe the Coronado bridge should do the same. It seems to be a growing problem since the media seems hell bent to report on it.
1/5/08: Man jumps off the Coronado bridge taking a Police dog down with him.
5/15/2007: 2 ppl attempt to jump off the Coronado
8/29/07: Two bodies were found in San Diego Bay today, including that of a person who committed suicide by jumping off the San Diego-Coronado Bridge

Okay explain why there needs to be a barrier on the bridge. There seems to be this urge in society to protect everyone from themselves. It's a tradgedy of course but they're going to do it one way or another. At least this time the police were smart and didnt send a dog after him like they did the last guy and then stand there and scratch thier heads wondering what happened.

Guess there's no answers just more questions. Ppl who decide to jump ... jump.
If the bridge authority doesn't give a flip to safe guard the bridge from future jumpers ... it doesn't give a flip.

25 yr old military guy? Probably despondent because his CO ordered him another week of KP duty with all those Filipinos at the EM mess, who spend most of their time poke'n fun at this dude in their native Tagalog (so he can't understand them calling him a frick'n dork)! How come you readers of this blog are getting so morose over this suicide, when every single week without fail, some young swabbie or jarhead dusts himself out on San Diego's highways on a frigg'n Ninja, CBR or Y6?

DAGO is correct. I view the coroner's list for sandiego cnty every four months; inevitably there are over hundreds of ppl who die via suicide all ages, all over sandiego county. life...find peace and happiness in your day! carpediem!!!
