here is a brain-storm 4 California.put speed limiters in the cars to,as not to allow them to go over 65 mph.
The speed limit on I-5 south of Patterson is 70MPH for vehicles without trailers.

You would also have to install the limiters on vehicles registered out-of-state which travel our roads.

Anyone with sufficient knowledge of mechanics and electronics can defeat such a system. I am certain that I could.

Retrofitting such a system to existing automobiles would likely result in a fiasco worse than the NOx systems California required to be retrofitted to 1966-1970 models (upon transfer of title). Those were easily defeated.

Split speed limits in California is wrong!
I am retired Chief in the military and now truck driver. There are a handfull of truck drivers they call big strappers or super truckers that do go way too fast over Donner Pass. I agree. But 55mph is too slow for I-5. When you have agressive cars going in and out of traffic with trucks only going 55mph, it is dangerous! I see speeding vehicles trying to get one car ahead all the time. They don't Aim High and look ahead. They all of a sudden see a Big Rig in front of them and HIT the brakes hard. Cars are always cutting off truckers. Don't they know the trucks cannot stop as fast as a car? I see speed zones all the time. Do cars go the posted speed limit. Never. And where is the highway patrol at this point? There needs to be more Highway patrol in these areas. Cars speeding causes most the accidents and roll overs. I see it all the time.
People just cannot slow down and go the posted speed limit. I see tailgaters constantly and very aggressive driving in California. Slow down, is all I can say. And make the speed limit the same for trucks and cars.

Most California drivers are like myself. I see a speed limit of 65 and automatically compute that I can go 82 without attracting attention on I5. Of course I wail like a mashed cat when I go out of state and the highway patrol has the NERVE to ticket me for going 5Mph over. I like many others am a dumba$$ and make life difficult for professional drivers such as yourself.
I'd apologize, but that is not my nature.

"We dont think we own the road,WE DO OWN THE RAOD" Get the F$*K out the way, tell u what y dont u do a real driving test, We know what we r doing Dumm A#S, We have these D$&K Heads who want to drive 50 or 55 mph when ur limit is 65 get the F^*k off the road & leave the driving to us,may be some body wont get killed.Sorry these people who dont know how to drive, get me all worked up, should not be on the road,

Not all do, so your sweeping statement sounds ridiculous. Most of them are just trying to work for a living, getting a load somewhere so they can be paid. They have to deal with a lot of idiots out on the road, just as some of us have to deal with the occasional dumbarse truck driver who is speeding or tailgating and putting others in danger.
Just remember, in case you forgot, that for those of us who drive passenger vehicles, we will never win against a big rig. Get over, and enjoy a more slow-paced ride to where you need to go.

Attitudes like yours is what part of what's so dangerous. You don't own the road. Passenger cars don't own the road. We are supposed to SHARE the road, Guy. Just like with the fricken' spandex wearin' bicyclists...either their spandex attire is too tight, thus cutting off circulation to their "true" head or they're color blind cuz not a one of 'em stops at a stop sign in my neighborhood. Can't stand 'em. Have the occassioanl fantasy of opening my cardoor as I drive by 'em.*WHACK* Oops, we have a spandex wearin' bicyclist down!
